Sixers now 8-2 Since Harden Trade

Post#1 » by Hussien Fatal » Sat Mar 19, 2022 1:32 am

That’s an 80% win percentage in albeit a small sample size but this is a good sign early. Whats their ceiling this year?

HF, I know you love them, but maybe it's time to put that homerism away? According to many here, they shoot way too many free throws and choke in big games which are terrible signs for post season success.

For real though, I hope to see a more meaningful post season from Maxey. If the kid can further elevate his game and more importantly find his own space between Embiid and Harden, they are truly going to be amazing next year. He has this big time baller gene in him.

I appreciate the update and win % breakdown TS. Keep up the good work

I think their ceiling is right up there with a handful of other teams in this wide open season: championship. I think (health permitting) Phoenix, Golden State, Miami, Milwaukee, Philly, Boston and Brooklyn are all legit contenders. So it wouldn't be any kind of upset to me if any one of 7 teams won it all and I can't remember the last season I felt that way, if ever

EDIT: Since I said health permitting I'll also include Denver and LAC in that group

It certainly seems that they will win the trade this year in terms of short-term value gained

The only way they win this trade is a ring, full stop.

I like Embiid a lot and would love to see him win a ring, but I'm concerned by how reliant they are on FTs. I guess it was good that they only took 23 today, though.

Have the playoffs started yet? No? For a second there I thought these games actually mattered.

IDK...there are those games where they just don't look good and seem to win in spite of themselves or Doc's coaching. Bench is still weak/inconsistent. If Embiid goes off, they can beat any team. But they have shown that when things are a bit off, they can be awful (game against the Celts, for example). They can win a title or get knocked out in the first round, just like the Nets. I'm saying this as a huge Embiid fan and Philly native. Can't ignore what I have seen. On a side note, Alaa Abdelnaby might be the worse announcer in the league, what a come down from one of the GOAT announcers, Marc Zumoff.

They need a really good MLE player to solify the roster and a vet guard that can defend. danny green is only getting older, and shake milton doesnt really fit this roster, even though hes an awesome player.

Shake an awesome player? Lol he’s trash and a clear weak link since his injury.

You made some solid points but that loss to the Celtics Harden didn’t play, they played bad that game almost as if the aliens from space jam stole their talent they forgot how to play basketball that game, I wouldn’t look for them to repeat that type of game vs any team.

Misleading title - they are 11-4 since the trade, and 8-2 when Harden plays. He didn't play for that 48 point spanking from the Celtics, though I don't think it would have mattered

There is still a lot of questions with this team but at the same time we could be in a worse spot still dealing the Simmons situation. Tyrese Maxey keeps playing at a high level, wonder how the big stage will impact his performances come late into the season/playoffs? Also Harden not playing well in big games could be an issue of course and the team still relies heavily on Embiid at times.

The East is wide open so we have a decent shot at coming out if everything goes right.
I don't see any East Team being a juggernaut, all I know it's going to be interesting in the eastern conference playoffs.
I don't think I Trust The Process anymore! :banghead:

Lol what? They just beat a Mavs team that's just as good as Boston and way better than the Nets.

You might want to try a little harder to cover up your bias.

Strangely Utah is up there too is you look at net rating and SRS, historically good indicators of title teams.
They don't have the feel of a contender to me at all tbh, but if we're throwing Denver & Clips in there I don't think you can dismiss them either.
