Post the Harden trade the team is unwatchable.

Fouls and free throws should not count for the majority of a player's points.

Re: Anyone else falling a sleep watching the new 76ers?
Harden never was pleasing on ones eyes. Even ignoring the foul baiting and endless FT fest; his game just isn't exciting. He holds the ball far too long and then drives, steps back or passes it. It's just not interesting basketball. And none of these would be issues if he did it faster. But he holds the ball 5-10 seconds every time before he goes for the move.
That said we will see how they fare in the playoffs with all these gifted FTs in the regular season.

No... But then again this is what happens when you foul players who earn fouls and are good at free throws. You know what could work? Not fouling them.

You don't enjoy free throw drills and flopping?

Its more both being together.
Putting the 2 leading three throw shooters in the league on the same team should be illegal

Lol at blaming flopping. Teams cant defend them they. Not their fault they get fouled all the time.

They're winning though. I don't think any Sixers fan will complain about their style of play if they win a championship this season.

Re: Anyone else falling a sleep watching the new 76ers?
The ability to get to the line has always been a commendable skill in basketball. I do think it is a slog to watch but to me it seems like a don't hate the player, hate the game scenario. Why blame Embiid and Harden for taking advantage of the rules instead of getting mad at the rules for being dumb? Between the 3 second rule and the slightest touch by a defender being a foul it kind of takes some of the competitiveness out of games. What fun is basketball if attempting defense gets punished consistently?

Re: Anyone else falling a sleep watching the new 76ers?
It really depends on sixers role players hitting shots. They will be open all day. If role players can even hit 30% of 3 point shots. Sixers will roll. But if they shoot abysmal in the 20% range. Sixers will struggle.
So yes. If the team is shooting well from outside. It will be extremely hard to beat them despite their lack of perimeter defense outside of aging Danny green and thybulle (who will be left open all day).

No it isn't pleasing to watch. But lets be honest - if your team wins you don't care if they play the four corners. When the playoffs come the Sixers game may really translate as the game slows down. The X factor is Harden who has some playoff demons ro work out

Going to hilarious if the calls dry up in the playoffs like people are predicting.

We will have to see how these two are officiated in the playoffs. The refs tend to swallow their whistle, while I also think the league directive is one of where the league won't want prime time playoff games to become bogged down in excessive foul calls

Re: Anyone else falling a sleep watching the new 76ers?
A lot of fouls on Embiid are legit. You have a big man willing to go into the paint and take contact. It has always been that way for centers or bigs who drive a lot. Joel has 11.8 FTA per game this year. Giannis has 11.6 FTA per game this year. Why no one complaining about Giannis? Joel makes 82% while Giannis makes 72%. Are people mad because he makes his FT's at a good rate for a big? I commend him for working hard and becoming a good FT shooter, unlike his lazy-ass former team mate.

I think people dislike how a lot of Embiid’s calls come about. He flops around a lot.

Re: Anyone else falling a sleep watching the new 76ers?
I’ve enjoyed their games. The mental focus it takes to defend harden is fun to watch, maxey is cool on the break, embiid is a really interesting player, thybule always makes 3 defensive plays that you don’t see from most other players. The free throw thing is cool to me, it’s the player trying to get the foul vs the defender trying not to foul. Different kind of mental matchup

Re: Anyone else falling a sleep watching the new 76ers?
drawing shooting fouls is the most efficient way to score in the entire league. It has a higher EV than a Curry brother 3 pt attempt. And it comes with the bonus of converting non-shooting fouls into shooting fouls and the other bonus of potentially putting the other team in foul trouble.
If the Sixers decide they'd rather be less effective as a basketball team and more like say the Harlem Globetrotters where entertainment value comes first, then the OP is really on to something here. However, if they continue to prioritize winning, I'm not sure the issue here really.
I will tell you this. I enjoy the hell out of the Sixers going to the FT line over and and over as their stars get the calls you would expect them to get. Then when the Sixers commit a clear foul on the other end the whole arena boos for 60 seconds. That is one hilarious self-aware bit the fans have going.
Now will they win a title? As mentioned above, it comes down to how well Niang and Green and Thybulle and Harris and Maxey make the wide open 3's they get. If like last night they are making them, its going to be nearly impossible for any team to win 4 of 7 from them, but if not, this team can still be had. Still I wouldn't want to face them.
