For sure but he wasn’t doing any of this in college. All of his skills are masai esque. Long, iq, defense, playmaking
He spent his one year in college learning to play point. But if you watch him in high school...he was doing a lot more than he showed in college.
yeah, I'm pretty baffled. This isn't nearly as big of a surprise as people think.
He was a top 5 recruit and top 5 pick. He was expected to be very, very good. This also was not some genius pick. We picked the best player on the board, an absolute elite athlete with insane skills for his size.
It looks like that now that he's killing it. But when the reports were coming out, like Scottie was killing the combine and was the biggest riser, 90% of the fanbase was panicking and praying it was all smoke and MU wouldn't fall for it and let Suggs drop past TOR at 4.
I was never high on Suggs at all, I wanted Kuminga for the longest time, so I never hated the pick since I was glad it wasn't Suggs, but the narrative here was absolutely that wed drafted Draymond/Ben Simmons offensive hybrid without their defense.
You can check the predict Barnes stats thread, loads of people were expecting 6ppg out of him.
I agree in hindsight everything about him was severely underrated, except his passing. That might be the only thing scouts/online posters got right
