I fully agree..even though Wolves might end up being affected this season, I love that play-in tournament. Want to avoid the risk of missing playoffs due to play-in tournament? Just finish in top6. It incentivizes the teams to finish as high as possible in regular season (especially those in the 4-8 seeds range).

The play in addresses that weird tweener space for teams that don’t quite make the 8 seed but also didn’t tank and aren’t going to get good lotto odds. Personally I favor lotto penalties for tanking and rewards for not resting your good players down the stretch for playoff teams. The play in is a great idea because it gives more incentive for the playoff teams to fight for the top 6 and gives teams who may have been injured or started badly (or started well and fell apart in the middle,) the chance to fight for an 8 seed. I mean honestly, would these games we talked about tonight have serious significance if not for the play in? We would be comfortable trying to stay in 7 to face the Griz and the last stretch would mostly be meaningless. Instead we are fighting as hard as we can for the 6 and every game matters. It is more than a money grab, it brings life back into the end of the season. I am all for it.

P.S, we were good enough to get 7 and if the worst happens and we are stuck in 7 then we should be good enough to beat 8 or failing that beat the winner of 9 and 10. Two home games with playoff stakes for a team good enough to get near the playoffs but not good enough to get in. It might bite us one year, maybe even this year, but the trade off is worth it because it elevates the game and forces us to be better.

I’m okay with the play in if the teams on the outside are remotely close by record. Maybe 2 or 3 games of both 7 and 8. It’s silly that we have a team that is over 10 games better than the teams in the play in. We are closer to the 2nd seed than the 9th seed.

Plus if teams are in the play in they should be locked outside of the lottery just like playoff teams.

The playoffs give a chance for teams with worse records to beat teams with better records to win a championship. The play-in games are the same premise, essentially just an expanded version of the playoffs.

We lucked out today with no Giannis.

Dallas down big to Charlotte early, 16-2.

Mavericks are getting their asses kicked! This is great! Hopefully it breaks their confidence and they start sliding!

Glad they've finally both lost a couple games. Our schedule is very difficult to finish out, hopefully we can catch at least one them.

ESPN or whoever needs to flex those Wolves/Mavericks games into their schedules. Big time playoff implications there, they will be HUGE. They are basically playoff games for us.

If only wolves took care of business against the worst team in the east, we could take 4th.

If GSW implodes like I think they will, and we win 7 or 8 of remaining 10, we still could.

If the Celtics beat the Nuggets tomorrow the Wolves will be sitting in the 6 seed in a tie with Denver. The other day I was watching the Nuggets and the announcer said they had a comfortable lead on the 7 spot, (didn’t even bother to name us.) I wonder how comfortable Denver is now?!!!
