Agreed no one likes a FT shooting contest.

Allow some contact, let them play. Punish flops.

Predictable from the NBA, propping you fake superstars with foul calls to boost their stats and sell jerseys.

It seems that we've seen similar trends with "points of emphasis" and NBA officiating before.

I don't think too many should be surprised.

Harden was looking about 3 years past his prime early in season then suddenly started putting up big stat totals again.

Funny how hit coincided with him getting 10+ FTs a game again.

The beginning of the season was a bit of a joke though. They were way overcompensating with the new rules and players on offense were allowed to be mugged.

With that said, I feel like after a few weeks they adjusted well and November through January seemed like a good balance. Seems like it has gone to the other side completely and now they're calling all the old school BS fouls and tactics offenses used to generate previously.

Absolutely pathetic by the refs. The early season calls were good for my team personally, with Caruso and Ball being great wing defenders. It's obvious it dropped off and they're giving certain players every damn call. Such a complete shame. They gave into the complaining of certain players.

Hell no. Stop fouling .

So you wanna see a 2006 finals again where one guy outshoots the opposing team at the line?

I remember you used to get mauled for even suggesting ANY of the FT's in that finals weren't there, as if there aren't a million ticky tacky fouls you couldn't justify with slow motion in an NBA game. People just want to see games won by skill and coolness under pressure.

The NBA does this almost every year, announce some reffing change and only enforce it for like a month. Too many foul dependent stars in the NBA. Then they let the physical teams mog them in the playoffs when they swallow tje whistle.

Let me get this right. Mamy posters here felt that the game was much improved early in the season when shooting fouls decreased by 2 per 100 2FGAs. And now they are upset that shooting fouls are up by 1.5 per 100 2FGAs over last year?

Personal Fouls per game per team are down slightly from last season, 19.3 vs 19.6. These variations don't seem significant to me. Certainly some foul hunting scorers are trying new ways to get to the line, but I'm not sure that my eye test discerns a change of 2 fouls per 100 FG attempts.

I don't know or care what the numbers say but if you couldn't tell from the eye test the difference from the beginning of the season to now or last year I dunno what to tell you. It was enormously different and much better

At least we got one thing out of it, there's no more excuse that "the nba is hard to ref" or "it's too fast to ref live" as we saw they were perfectly capable of swallowing their whistles on offensive contact when direction from top brass dictated it to be so.

This video confirms what we all suspected. In last night's game both of these were called called fouls on the defensive player. This is laughable on both instances. Incredible the final play of the game Harden is called for an offensive call after he elbows Chris Boucher in the face while driving to the hoop looking for a call.
