Cavs & Raptors losing tonight makes this one even more comforting.

2.5 games behind the Raps now, 3 games behind Cleveland.

We have a chance but we have to execute. Kyrie or no Kyrie.

I don't care how efficient we are offensively, giving up an extra 10 possessions a game to the opponent like we were earlier in the season was giving me grey hairs watching. Just not a recipe for winning basketball especially when we're not a high volume 3 point shooting team.

Winning the possession battle matters, and gets even more so in the playoffs.

Better rebounding and better pace of play. Bruce Brown has been a huge part of that.

We have won 6 out of the last 10.

I would love to be wrong, but I don't think the Raptors losing is a good thing. We need them to pass Cleveland or Chicago. A Toronto win would have pulled them even with Cleveland & a half game behind Chicago.

Was at the game tonight. Fun game despite the slow start and the nervy finish. Love how Clax turned up his game after Gobert threw that elbow at him.

If we only stole/lucked out vs Dallas.

Different story maybe

Correct. Toronto has to win. it also 3.5 games back, not 2.5 games back because they own the tiebreaker.

Huge much needed win. Props to the Knicks for wearing them down yesterday, they clearly were a few steps slow. its nice to finally beat a team on a back to back on the road vs. us. My thoughts...

1) Claxton played fantastic on both ends. Gave up a ton of size to gobert and played great. This after the same against Embiid. He has been huge for us. I fully expect this moron team to put LMA back in the rotation once he is back though, which is infuriating.

2) Seth being hurt is awful. We cant afford to lose him, not with how Mills has tended to have big slumps this year. If he misses even 1 or 2 games it could cost us the 8 seed. Drummond also out with some mysterious illness. we need him tommorow.

3) KD was lethal. That final stretch though... i mean... bro figure out how to pass out of a double team. its getting akward how bad he is there. thankfully the jazz didnt double him hard the first 45 minutes of this game. Dude was lethal though. dagger after dagger after dagger. he is playing with playoff intensity and confidence right now. its fun to watch.

4) Huge props to blake. dude is going full on full extension parrallel to the floor all out dive for a steal with us up double digits late. dude is just a gamer. i wish there was more minutes for him because he makes so many momentum plays.

5) Kessler played some great minutes. need to get him a playoff spot. We will need him at some point. we have very few 2-way guys. it would be a mistake not to make sure he is playoff eligible. Cut LMA if needed.

6) I thought we brought KD back a bit early. up 15 with 9 minutes to go i thought you could ride that out until it was 10 points and see if you could get away with not having to play him at all. That said these wins are so important i get playing him there too.

Tomorrows game is enormous. one of few left with Kyrie. I dont care that it is a back to back for us we need to come out like we did vs. phily and slap them up big time.

Nic has now played solid basketball against two of the league's top 5 centers.

The Nets need to think very carefully about letting this kid walk. Defensively he has figured out how to defend bigger guys without fouling and on offense he's looking like a surefire bucket on his rim attacks. He has definitely improved.

It's rough. The fan in me wants to keep everyone and roll the dice next season but Claxton and Bruce need pay raises and that tax bill isn't getting any smaller. Then there's the Drummond decision.

+ Kyrie will be looking to opt out & secure a big raise. Something will have to give.

I have no issue with Kyrie being extended, but there should be incentives put in place.

kudos to Nash for making the adjustment. Last night might have been the cleanest game he coached this year. Rotations were good, he made the correct move to bring in Kess after Seth went down.

Not so sure how it will play out; I don't think Marks is going to let Irving to have his way with negotiating. Key pointers to look for, if Irving opts in, he knows the Nets would not be committed to him being unreliable to play, if he opts out, then it would be a positive. Tsai/Marks will have a say to the future of whether they think he will be a detriment to the team.

a topic for another thread/time but I am not in favor of bringing him back if he opts out.... all that money could go into some retaining members and maybe 2 other actual starters/contributors that play every game.....

his shenigans, IMO of the choice of description, off the court is not worth it at all anymore to me. He picks himself over the team every year and I'm not with it.

Drummond is still only 28, durable, and more ceiling then claxon... and with Curry/Harris under contract, Drummond becomes a higher priority then Mills.

Drummond has to be the #1 offseason priority after Kyrie's extension. Then you make tough decisions from there.

I think Mills would take another 1+1 deal on a 20% raise to help Simmons/Marks. Claxton at like 3/30 would likely cost too much. Especially if LMA or Blake are back on the cheap and Sharpe is there for insurance

Return to Brooklyn Nets
