Zach Lavine set to become unrestricted free agent

‘What He Deserves’: Could Mavs Sign Bulls' Zach LaVine in Free Agency?

The Chicago Bulls are spiraling as Zach LaVine gets set to enter unrestricted free agency this summer.

“Absolutely. There’s no question,” said Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison on the Mavs Step Back Podcast when asked about the Kristaps Porzingis trade opening up bigger trade possibilities going forward.

“Free agency is gonna be a big milestone for me,” said LaVine in an interview with Yahoo Sports. “It's my first time going into it really being [an] unrestricted free agent. … Moving forward, it's gonna be a whole new experience for me.”

LaVine could sign with a new team for four years and $160 million, or he could potentially re-sign with the Bulls for five years and north of $200 million… if they even decide to offer him that much. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/nba/mavericks/.amp/news/dallas-mavs-luka-doncic-zach-lavine-chicago-bulls-free-agency-sign

Would be nice. But Dallas only has a mere $6M in MLE available this summer.

It clearly would need be S&T, but if the Bulls are fine with letting LaVine go, now that they finally have normal team, one should ask, why are they doing this?

We'll see how things progress. We should be interested at looking to improve by anyway possible and Zach could be a good fit.
However, the path to acquire him seems very difficult, and we would need him to let it be known that we're where he wants to play. I don't think it happens but with the off-season nearing the discussion deserves it's own thread.

Zach is the perfect fit. He is Dinwiddie on steroids. The only way this happens is through Zach's agent, Jeff Schwartz. If he talks Lavine out of Chitown then the Mavs have a shot at a sign and trade. Otherwise, I think it is far fetched.

He's not the best fit in my opinion. But if Brunson wants to go to Chi (he has ties there) and Zach wants to come here, a double S&T where we would also include Bertans would be an ideal move. Not sure if that's even legal from a CBA standpoint, but if so, wahoo

Forget about Lavine, we just simply dont have enough assets nor cap space to acquire him.

He can get 160 over 4 years as a Mav or 200 over 5 years as a bull. Why would he leave the bulls?

Not if it’s a sign and trade. He could still get the $200M over 5 in that scenario. Even if that’s the case though, why would he leave Chicago? They e had some injuries to Ball and Caruso but their team when healthy is really good. I just don’t see him forcing his way out of Chicago.

No, S&T no longer offer the 5th year. Its only a 4 year deal max in any S&T scenario

Oh ok. Well still regardless of the money I don’t see why he would want to leave Chicago.

I don't see him leaving Chicago for Dallas and we just don't have the pieces to get him in a SnT. But yes if he somehow wanted to come here, by all means. He would be amazing here.

I think Hardaway and Kleber for Buddy Hield and filler is more likely. But I do want the Mavs to save cap rooms for Tyler Herro or Terrance Mann. When Powell and Kleber expires, the Mavs could somehow moves Hardaway. It is possible if the Mavs do not retain Brunson with a crazy contract.
