Hey I like this one.

WTH. Packers didn't even have a billboard announcing his visit. Amateurs. Good signing.

Reed has always been strong and disruptive. Love this signing. Reed and Clark should be a load up front

How much is the deal?

I really like Slaton, but there is no guarantee he continues to develop so I am glad we got Clark some help. Still would take Jordan Davis if given the chance.

I wonder if we could dance with Atlanta and get Pitts for a 1st.

lol why would they trade the best TE of a generation, that they took 4th overall, for the 22nd pick in the draft?

Reed feels like a 2022 placeholder. IF one of the quality DL guys falls to #28, take him.

I can agree in this case, because the difference is minimum, but let's be real, it doesn't make sense overall.

Getting a snap, spin and hold = you use your hands
Punting = you use your legs

It's like if when playing soccer you ask your attacking forward to be a goalkeeper too, it's the same game, but totally different skill sets and even parts of the body that you use.

How does the punter get the ball?

I’ll help, he gets a snap, spins it with his hands to get it in position to kick it.

Dumb question but with specialization, has it shifted to the punter since they practice in different squads? Don't think they want love or another backup splitting time with the offense and Kickers.

Why couldn't a WR hold? Would also force the opposing team to watch for fakes.

Most of the players would make more sense, IMO. It could be WRs, CBs, QBs, safeties, punt/kick returners, but instead the common thing is to basically use the skinniest and slowest (except for OLs and DLs).

No, punter makes the most sense. It's like asking why teams waste a roster spot on a long snapper. Just make the center do it!

You want someone who spends his time with the kicker/ ST units and gets the most reps fielding from the long snapper (they do it for punts and field goals). It's a specialized job and they're the only ones who have the time to perfect it (since the rule change at least).

The threat of fakes is nice, but 99% of the time you just want a clean snap. So, not a huge priority

That was going to be my guess but then I thought there might be 2 or 3 others that I forgot about and I would be exposed as a not-quite-adequate Packers junkie if I said Pederson. :D

Reed is a very good 3-tech. Depending on the cost. It's a good signing.

Um, Packers are a team that has the capital to go get Tyreek Hill and I don't know how to feel about that.

Gonna be annoyed if the Chiefs get more back for Hill than we got back for Adams. That's all I'm saying.

I think he did, but Pederson returned to GB for several years after Hasselbeck left. Judging by the number of "games played" with very few passing attempts (or even none) Pederson had in some of those seasons, he must have been holding, because there's no other role he could have been playing. I looked up the next few seasons and it seems that B.J. Sander was holding after Pederson, and even had a passing attempt in 2005. Unless they went back to QB's holding some time after Sander, I'm guessing Pederson was the last one.

ETA: Or maybe not? Flynn had 15 games in 2009, while Rodgers played all 16. Flynn couldn't have been in there to take a knee in a blowout that many times. He must have been holding.
