I agree that the Knicks show no capacity at all to cope with having Zion on the team.
Otoh, that's a semi-weird take on Willi - soft he may be, but I don't think anyone ever thought he was fat. Neither he nor his brother have/had that body type at 21/22.
willy was literally complaining about ny keeping him fat cuz it had a food smell in the air

ball moving and not sticking...hmmmmmmmmm
He has guts. Love him so far.
Right has thibs ever exhibited even 10 percent of this towards Julius?

Seems like the "culture" we wanted is embodied by our youth movement. They're all good dudes so far who like to work hard

Obi's sin is he doesn't play Thibs ball. Never gets put in as a roll man. Needs to play transition.TrueWarrior wrote:
We been saying it all season. Obi would have had so many more games like this if he just played more.
A few games ago he got 13 pts in 14 mins. He’s done that a whole lot this year, but just doesnt get the time from Tom to get bigger numbers so fans think he’s a bust.
The first 2 months of the season he was our leading scorer per minute with the highest PER, then Rose got hurt and the whole season spiraled out for everyone, but especially Obi and the bench.
Everyone is excited about this game and he played great for sure, but the fact that he still hasnt scored 20 points in a game shows how little he plays, even when hes playing well.
He got work to do obviously but the foundation is there to be very good. If that shooting, handle, passing, and defense become mostly consistent there’s no stoppin Toppin from poppin.

I'd still like to point out how Obi is at least a triple fail by the FO and how that bodes really poorly for the future, minus some kind of very large off season shakeup.
Fail #1: Knicks desperately need a PG. A PG who could play off the ball would be particularly nice, since that's good for RJ's development. A tall PG would be really nice for the switching on defense. Knicks pass on Haliburton for Obi.
Fail #2: Knicks know they have a coach who will ride vets. Knicks have just hired Thibs as coach and have Julius on the roster. A problem waiting to happen.
Fail #3: IF the Knicks know, or have a strong feeling that Randle is part of their future core, why draft Obi at 8, when surely there are backup PF's at some point available later in a draft or with the MLE.
Fail #4: The Knicks have hired Thibs as their coach. They have Mitchell Robinson on the roster. They make a point of signing, and then resigning Noel. They also sign Taj, probably at Thib's request. Thibs hates small ball lineups. Even though it would probably be a good idea to give Randle or Obi both some time at the 5, or at least play them together, the Knicks FO stuffs the roster with offensively limited C's, who you'd think they'd know wants to feature defensive bigs, thereby blocking any small chance Randle and Obi might play together. Also, If Thibs likes his big defensive C, and a team is going to resign or feature Randle, what is the point of Obi - at least at draft time.
I'm willing to let the FO off the hook on the Obi pick IF they move Randle, but they didn't move Randle or let his contract expire, they signed him to 4 years at 30 million per, which is going to be hard to move.
These are just the fails around drafting Obi with Thibs as coach and Randle on the roster.
Also, your post is good, I just used this as an opportunity for a vent I've been storing about the FO's lack of BBall IQ/Roster building and vision. F*ckning clown car, it is.

Better they played Sims, who can actually set a correct screen.
