I dont care if its only 80 games, 3 games or so above 12 points while getting spoon fed minutes is beyond terrible. Its a HUGE red flag.

He had a decent game against the worst defensive PG in the NBA in Trae Young--good for him. His previous 10 games were dog ****.

He had 12, 6 & 5 against PDX and 9, 8, & 4 against MIA. The only game that his numbers weren’t great were against ORL when he only played 11 mins, but even that game he managed 5 dimes in. He could easily become a Marcus Smart type dude. Give it time man.

Jesus, leave the kid alone. You'd swear he's the only player to ever struggle at the beginning of his pro career.

There's a surfeit of smug in this thread.

But it was against OKC who sat ALL of their main guys and Killian played 40 minutes... I'm not 'hating'... just stating a fact.

On the bright side, he has looked better as of late and is still 20.

Trending to be yet another example of why over analysis on kids in year 1, 2 and even some cases 3 can be counter productive and not indicative of where they ultimately end up. Small sample ofc but looks like a totally different player since the end of November.

His TS% is lower than last season. He is having better flashes but that is basically because he has unlimited playing time and chances.

Notice I said since the end of November where his efficiency is clearly higher than his baseline. And he had plenty of playing time prior and did not look this competent/confident knocking down shots at any point. Small sample size of course, so he could come crashing down but he looks different out there rather than just on some hot streak.

Looks like he's turned the corner. He no longer plays so robotic and unsure about everything he does. Not sure if it's the game slowing down or what but hes just so much more comfortable and aggressive.

Cade's injury will be a blessing for Hayes, he'll get a much needed full-year of reps as the main ball handler. I still don't know how he fits into the Detroid squad if he can't stop being inconsistent from 3.

Do you guys think he still has 1 or 2 all-star appearances on his potential? Or will settle as more a legit playoff starting PG a la Smart, Dragic, Conley? (given he continues this upward trend)
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

I don't think anyone is betting on him being nearly that good lol.

He's got a lot of Mike Conley in his game. He'll be one of those guys who is criminally underrated throughout his career a la Conley and be a defensive beast. I'm actually more worried about Cade at this point, shin issues aren't something to mess around with. We saw this with Sam Bowie.

I think using his overall season stats to make a judgement on his growth is quite misleading. He was HISTORICALLY bad for the first 15 games or so and most fans (including myself) had written him off. But over quite a large sample size now he is looking (and shooting) much better.

October - 2.5/2.5/3.5 on 17% FG and 13% 3PT
November - 9.7/2.7/5.0 on 40% FG and 36% 3PT (the first few games of this month were a continuation of the October inefficiency)
December - 13.0/3.1/7.3 on 45% FG and 39% 3PT

I think 1-2 All-Star appearance and reaching Smart/Conley/Dragic level is pretty bullish. I see him as probably at least a tier below those guys at his peak. Worst-case scenario, a very capable 3rd guard in the rotation. Best-case scenario, averaging 15/4/8 with good defense and a perfect complement to Cade in our starting backcourt.
