No big surprise he's out for the season. More interesting to me is that Kerr said he will resume on court activity "in the next couple months". Maybe somebody who knows more about this injury than I do could explain why that's no as weird as it seems? Seems like a long time.

That would likely mean that more damage was done, that it wasn't just swelling and mild discomfort. Its still possible that it's just being overcautious and letting him focus on off-court rehab as well, but if I were gambling on it, I'd say that there was a significant issue, not just returning too early.

And spitballing on that, when that typically happens, its due to personal irresponsibility. Especially at the pro level, programs are created at the micro-level. Suggested foods, suggested workouts, even as far as suggested sleep patterns, ways to sit, ways to sleep, etc.. We could also be talking about something degenerative in his genetics for all we know at this stage. There are no concrete answers unless Wiseman feels like sharing

Now we have to worry about whether he'll even be able to participate at all in summer workouts, training camp, and preseason all over again? Even if he makes it back next year this dude is so far behind at this point and just can't seem to get healthy long enough to learn and develop even the basics of NBA ball. Thank god we got Kuminga and Moody in the draft and Poole improved, otherwise the future would look bleak for this team.

really disappointed that we won't get to see him play this season. I just hope he can fully recover from his injury and be ready to go with a full training camp and preseason next year.

This is remarkably bad news. Makes Oden look like an iron man candidate. Either the initial surgery was botched, or this kid is as fragile as a tea cup. Either way, unless he makes a remarkable turnaround next year, he'll go down as one of the greatest busts in NBA draft history.

Why are people acting so surprised? The decision to draft Wiseman was based on a college career that lasted three games and a dinner with ownership. The pick was the blindest of shots in the dark...and, not surprisingly, missed the mark. Now, almost two years post draft, Wiseman has missed 176 out of a possible 218 college and NBA games over the last three years. If the best predictor of future success is past success, then it's reasonable to surmise that the team isn't likely to get much out of Wiseman before parting ways with him in the next year or two.

I don't get how his knee can look completely sound and not need more surgery, but it swells up the size of a grapefruit every time he takes the court.

Doctors must even be baffled. Body does crazy things. I remember garrison hearst broke his foot in the playoffs, he didn't return the next year because he got necropothy in the bone.

There was hope he could provide much needed front court help in the playoffs against the likes of Jokic/Ayton/Towns/Zubac/Valaciunas etc.
Who was hoping for that lol

Guys, we can't have Loon Dog 20/20 and the Great Wise Hope both healthy in the same season. Someone's gotta be the sacrificial lamb.

Seriously? Halliburton, Bane, Saddique Bey, Maxey etc have all looked like pretty damn studs. Then there’s guys like Vassell and Jalen Smith who look promising as well.

We need another big. We don't have enough size to make a serious playoff run.
