im not gonna write Amari Rodgers off yet lets see what happens this year..The last couple offseasons going into the season most "experts" have picked us to win or go to the Super Bowl and it hasn't happened obviously...I like how everyone is mocking us and writing us off and talking about nobody wanting to play with Rodgers....hoping to see that same kinda fuel he used after the Love pick

Was hoping Amari would be that guy but instead he was one of the worst returners I ever remember. It's one thing to be sketchy with ball protection but when you combine that with zero game breaking ability it's a real turd sandwich.

Question why would the majority of this board feel that amari would be a KO specialist he never did it in college so why would you all think he could do it in the pros.Only the packers would put a dude back to catch n return punts thats never done it before then have this board say hes a bust
Ouch ok he didnt look slow though in that video

Re: Packers 2022 Offseason Thread - Adams Traded to Raiders for 2022 1st and 2nd Rd Picks
It was around the time that Greg Jennings left to the Vikings and Donald Driver retired where Packer fans were saying "we are losing all of our wide receivers" and those same Packer fans a few years later believed Adams was a bust and needed to go because he kept dropping the ball in key situations and struggled in our offense.
Now, here we are in the same mindset. I was not impressed with Davante in his first 1.5 seasons and have not been impressed with Amari at all.........but hopefully the wide receiver we have will progress this year.

We had Nelson, Jones and Finley at that time. And had also just drafted Cobb. I don't see how the current situation is comparable.Profound23 wrote:It was around the time that Greg Jennings left to the Vikings and Donald Driver retired where Packer fans were saying "we are losing all of our wide receivers" and those same Packer fans a few years later believed Adams was a bust and needed to go because he kept dropping the ball in key situations and struggled in our offense.

I am just going to reiterate, I really love the move to trade Adams, even though he was one of my favorite Packers. That contract is going to be a problem and I really think we can add an impact WR or two in this draft, even if they are completely different than Adams.

Not the situation although there are some similarities. We were all ready to give up on Adams after his rookie year and most still wanted him cut after his sophomore year. Now most of us feel the same about Amari.
Maybe he develops....maybe he stays a scrub. Let's just give him some more time and hope that we draft someone who can come in and be an impact player immediately like Chase last year, Jefferson the year before, or DK the year before that.

I am hoping Rodgers slims down somewhat significantly and see if some of that explosion is back. Didn't look anything remotely like the highlight reels of him from Clemson.
I'm not giving up on him, but he has a lot of work to do

Absolutely give Amari every chance to earn WR PT. Players often make a jump from year 1 to year 2. And there's a lot of PT to be had this year with Adams and MVS gone. If he can't get on the field this year you cut bait.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I honestly think his biggest problem was muffing the punt early in pre-season. The next week he fair caught a punt and let another one go when the gunners were nowhere near him and he had A LOT of room to run. Never looked the same in the return game for the rest of the year. Hopefully he starts off well this preseason and gains more confidence. When it comes to the passing game, he will have to be included more either way. Need to run some plays for him similar to what SF does with Deebo.

Unfortunately, the only NFL team with punt coverage that bad is the Packers.

This is a good point, he did look like his confidence took a major hit. Guessing it is a bit easier to field punts outside of Lambeau.
Also agree, WTF did we draft him for given how we used him? I'm somewhat joking, we used him in the Jimmy Graham role more than we used him in the Swervin Ervin role, which was the whole point of drafting him. Wait, I guess I am not joking.
That's also why I think bringing in another TE would good, because Degaura seemed a bit miscast as a typical TE, but I am not sure he lined up in the backfield more than a handful of times.

Going to throw my hat in the ring for Jalen Tolbert with one of our 2nds.

Maybe kick the tires? Bring him in as comp for Amari in the gadget/returner spot.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

I feel like if Jaire can play the slot and Douglas and Stokes on the edge, it really gives us a prolific secondary. I also don't mind drafting a safety and trying Savage as that early down slot guy that can just give you that kind of speed around the line of scrimmage.
