Feels like we’re headed towards a Duke - Kansas National Championship, in what would be the battle of the 2 most insufferable college fan bases ever

If it’s any consolation, I have Duke winning it all. Almost feels like destiny at this point.

like do these teams have some specific identity from each other? or is more of a " i loved them that time in the final four so i became a fan" thingh?

As a kid, baby blue was my favorite color, and I grew up during the Jordan NBA era, so its as simple as that for me. Why are Duke, Kansas (and Kentucky too, as I've read in this thread) so hated?

This is coming from someone who's not from the USA, so I don't know about the regional rivalries and such.

People hate what’s called the “blue bloods” which encompasses teams like Duke, Kansas, UNC and a few others. Duke is hated because of Coach K (people find him annoying) and because historically they have a bunch of white guys IE Laettner which got under peoples skin.

Duke is probably the most hated team in the country by a long shot.

So basically they are hated because they are successful? Is that right?

Yes that and the fact they have the most fans who can be obnoxious. It’s similar to why people hate the Lakers but it’s on a bigger scale bc college fans have way more passion than NBA fans because they’re intrinsically tied to the school

I guess it was due for the old familiar teams to return to th he final four and get over the hump, especially if the heels win.

Doesn't have an allegiance to Minnesota, but chose to put them and not UNC on your profile anyway. Got it.

Idk man - I don't think they're nervous or anything just missing a lot of easy shots around the basket. Not looking great but if they can close the gap to like 10 pts at the half I think they have a chance

What a bummer. Peacocks playing okay defense but can't score.

Yeah.. I mean. Who cares the reason right? Your reason is probably bettter than mine..

My fave team is Duke since.... 2k? In my neck of the woods I only had espn for international sports shows ( cuz im.not American ) and waiting for nba games especially for Magic games, espn always shows a NCAA game. First time I watched a game I saw Dunleavy and I think Boozer doing something impressive like a dunk (lol) and it got me hooked. Also, it seemed that espn shows a lot of Duke games so been a fan ever since.

That and the fact that 99% of Duke fans

1. Have never set foot in North Carolina much less been near the campus.
2. Don't know of anyone who has ever attended the school.
