thatd be a tough decision

I'd say 100% think long-term.

I guess it just depends on the location and severity so probably pointless to speculate. Even a repair like Wiseman had doesnt mean you come back 100% as we've seen. Hope for the best, dude is a beast

This absolutely sucks. Rob roaming as a free safety unlocked our defense, and he's also a devastating lob threat. That's all gone now, and that lowers the Celtics' ceiling.

I hope the Time Lord recovers quickly and completely.

By 'Basketball Gods' I assume you mean the Celtics FO relying on a guy who regularly misses games?

That extension before the season started is really good for him now. Kudos to his agent.

As a Bulls fan, I really feel your pain.

Bulls were doing great before all those injuries too until January and then **** of injuries happened and they lost all their mojo and now on the 5th seed from 1st seed.

It's a HUGE blow for Celtics but I still think they will be fine. Horford can be the center now and either Grant Will or D.White can slide into the starting lineup. Their bench will be a little thin but they still will be good.

Good luck Celtics fans.

That's a damn shame. Hate to seeing players going down before playoffs.

Sucks for Williams but other teams have been dealing with much worse all year so C's really have no ground to cry on...

However, dude anchored the Celtics stifling defense but now they'll have to rely on Theis who I remember got torched by Bam couple years back. Durant/Kyrie gonna have a field day in the paint. Not even to talk about Giannis (if they find a way to advance).

While this was obviously a huge loss, if you think the Celtics don't even have the potential to get out of the first round without Rob, you are dramatically underrating the players around him who are still healthy.

He'll probably be back by Round 2...Most guys will come back earlier than they should for the playoffs...By Round 2 it should be about a month or so.

Meniscus tear is generally a full recovery. It's terrible luck it happened right before the playoffs, but he still would have received a bigger contract this offseason than he got from his extension.

Aw man, I like Robert Williams and I was excited to cheer for the Celtics once the Raps got eliminated. This sucks.

Absolutely brutal, I think they were going to make the Finals. Maybe he can make it back by Round 2 but I have no idea.

So you don't think a guy who will probably be around the Top 5 candidates for DPOY wouldn't get a 4/48M(+6M unlikely bonuses) deal, when the 4 year MLE deal is worth around 4/44M?

Just horrible. He was so fun to watch. Hope he returns better than ever, but the pessimist in my has doubts as so much of his game was based on his elite athleticism.

Depends on the severity of this tear, if its like JJJ/Wiseman which makes him miss a year then teams would be weary of handing out a big contract

I'm not 100% but I think the 4-6 week turnaround is what is expected if he gets surgery it is considerably longer without the surgery and just rehab.

I'm basing this off memory from when Bledsoe tore his meniscus in a contract year. He had the surgery to get it removed so he could come back sooner but shortens the athletic prime.

This is like Murray's injury last year in terms of derailing a title contender right before the playoffs, **** injuries man
