Sucks big time, I’m not a Celtics fan but they were playing great and I was looking forward to how competitive the East playoffs will be. They’re still good, don’t get me wrong, but it hurts their chances a bit.

Also, meniscus tears blow, I tore mine at the same time as tearing my ACL last year, and the meniscus recovery is almost worse than the ACL - at least in cases like mine where the tear is severe.

Big time loss.
Robert Williams is a special young player but is WAY too injury prone.

Celtics defense will take a step back, as will an option on offense, but it won't be too big a drop. Theis is a decent replica of William's skill set, though he isn't nearly as explosive. BUt, he is still a guy u can throw lobs to and is a help side defender and you can switch.

Horford becomes a much bigger deal at the 5 too.

This happens almost every year with the Celtics. It is strange. I feared this was the case with the way he got injured.

The guy anchoring the #1 defense in the league is very important even if you aren't aware of it.

I think he could be back for the playoffs especially if they made a deep run

This is very frustrating as I feel like Boston was ready to make the finals this year. Williams is a key contributor and not easily replaced with their current line up.

Hoping a speedy recovery, but this is a tough pill to swallow.

I knew things were going too well and he went too long without an injury.

Injuries suck.

Hope he comes back stronger than ever, excellent young player.

2018: Hayward snaps his leg. Kyrie gets injured right before the playoffs.
2020: Hayward gets injured right at the start of the playoffs, comes back at half strength in the ECF.
2021: Brown gets injured right before the playoffs.
2022: Williams gets injured right before the playoffs.

This team is goddamn cursed. I get it, injuries are part of the game, sometimes you are gonna be unlucky. But four times in the last five years? Bruh.
Can this core just have one playoff run not derailed by injuries for once? Most of these were just some freak injuries, too.

The Celtics have been very unlucky the past years, I just feel numb at this point.

Brutal. He’s probably the only player on the Celtics I like. He’s been amazing this year

It sucks big time to lose a major starter and DPOY candidate, but I'm not that surprised. Health has always been an issue with Rob.

However, dude anchored the Celtics stifling defense but now they'll have to rely on Theis who I remember got torched by Bam couple years back. Durant/Kyrie gonna have a field day in the paint. Not even to talk about Giannis (if they find a way to advance).

While this was obviously a huge loss, if you think the Celtics don't even have the potential to get out of the first round without Rob, you are dramatically underrating the players around him who are still healthy.

It's not that I have little confidence in Boston, it's just that I have far MORE of it in BKN. People may not like them but Kd/Kyrie are just two certified killers that can easily go for 40 a piece. Thus, every defensive resistance is needed and Boston lost a lot of it.

I don't want to get in a big argument over the Nets-Celtics right now. It likely doesn't matter because the Celtics more likely than not won't play the Nets in the first round anyway, especially because this injury makes it more difficult to get a top 2 seed, and if the celtics do edge out the Sixers and Bucks and Heat for first seed in spite of this injury that will reveal something about the Celtics that we don't currently know now. Do you think the Celtics have literally zero shot against the Raptors, Bulls, or Cavs?

I would’ve thought basketball reference would’ve updated the Celtics chances to win the East by now (42% before he went down). Removing a guy playing 30 minutes with a .246 win share per 48 should torpedo their chances down to about 25%.

Damn a LeBron, injuries are the True King.

Hope he has a good recovery. Love watching him play despite being on a rival team.
