Zion (#1), Barrett (#3), Reddish (#10) in 2019.

Duke has #1 (Lively), 3 (Flilip), 5 (Whitehead), 13 (Mitchell), 60 (Schutt), 167 (Reeves) coming in next year.

The Zion superclass was: 1 (RJ Barrett), 2 (Reddish), 5 (Zion), 15 (Tre Jones), 33

Thanks for that. For some reason my memory said Reddish went #11.

what's happening with Zaga's recruiting class this year - only 1 recruit so far and only a 3 star?

They don’t have Tommy “Gun” Lloyd anymore.

this class already looks a lot stronger to me overall, better and more projectable archetypes, much much better PG class, more wings.

I dont think there is a Zion caliber guy with this class for Duke. But I think its a much better fitting team. Going to be very interesting to see if Scheyer gets the best out of them. With their size, they should be able to dominate most college teams.

To be fair, Zion wasn't considered a Zion caliber guy before Duke.

I know many like myself and Clyde and others viewed him as the clear #1 and an elite prospect even if he wasn't the consensus #1 guy. But ya with that said, I think its safe to say none of these guys will have the individual impact that Zion had while at Duke.

He had Lebron like crowds at his games even if he wasn't as refined.

You can definitely call this a bias take, but the more Ive been watching Whitehead the higher and higher Ive been getting on him. Now a wow level athlete like past guys like Jalen Green, Edwards, and so on. But a really good athlete and its all functional athleticism as well. Solid size as well (6'5 with a 6'9 wingspan). The form on the jumper is good (can be a little quicker) and the improvement in his jump shot production is improving at a very good rate.

This is probably the highest Ive ever been on an incoming Duke class. I really liked the Zion class, but I wasn't the biggest fan of RJ and I knew the fit was going to be questionable with all of them. 1-5 on their main guys their bringing in, I really like them all.

Im also really hoping that Scheyer will be a little more creative than K over the last decade and find minutes (even if they're limited) to get Schutt minutes. Even if its just 8-10 minutes of him constantly running off screens and stuff. Getting a legit sharpshooter like him minutes with the bigs coming in could be very beneficial.

CptCrunch wrote:My early #1 is Kyle Filipowski. This kid can dish, can shoot, can defend and plays with tons of energy, all in a huge 6'10" package. His body looks filled out for his age and has great potential to grow looking at the size/width of his frame.

Filipowski actually got scouted by Scheyer as a 3 star (rank 100+), signed as a mid-4 star (rank 50-ish). Has risen rapidly now to #2 on 247 and Rival, ESPN #5. I am confident he is on a trajectory to #1 in his class in the final ranking.

(Wemby hasn't actually been that good if you look at his play lately)

(Scoot is probably his greatest competition right now)

Just look at the guy's size, handles and mobility in this video. Keep in mind this dude can and might get listed as a 7 footer in the NBA.

Not close to Wembanyama, nobody is. If you pass up Wembanyama you deserve to get fired immediately.

tentative prelim top 5ish

Victor Wembanyama
Scoot Henderson
Dariq Whitehead
Keyontae George
Anthony Black
Brandon Miller
Nick Smith Jr.

really liking the class overall, won't be as good as 21 but clearly ahead of 22 imo.

Cant take much from these games, but Whitehead really showed out at the McDonalds game. The combination of size, fluidity, and skill is pretty damn intriguing. Again not a crazy wow athlete, but a very good one and every aspect of his athleticism is extremely functional.

At best it was a bad joke. End of that discussion.
