Small sample size but since CP3 has been there they've been about a .500 in games Booker doesn't play and are like 12-4 in games without CP3.

Tatum and Booker are pretty close IMO and a valid debate especially since Booker has played really well on D this season.

Lukas numbers are better than both but he's a little trickier comp because Dallas runs a one man show O.

I know many hands make light work, but at some point, somebody who actually plays for the Suns deserves recognition in light of what they've done to the league this season. I wonder how many 60+ win teams in history didn't have a single 1st team all-NBA guy.

Bud's Hawks made zero all-NBA teams but did have 4 all stars.

I'm sure Booker will make one of the All-NBA teams and he has a chance at 1st team IMO, though if I had to guess I'd say he probably ends up on 2nd team.

I don't think it's dissing him to say he doesn't deserve consideration for winning MVP. He simply hasn't been good enough to deserve votes over the top 3 guys. If people are simply up in arms because he isn't being talked about for 4th or 5th place enough, then whatever I guess.

I wouldn't have him in my top 3 (and I'd have Tatum 4th) so I don't think we actually disagree on him being a literal contender for the award. I just don't think it's ridiculous to be like "hey should we be looking at the guy on the team that clinched HFA throughout with 8 games to play and once dropped 70 points in a game?"

Best player on best team is one of the few consistent traditional criteria for the award. Maybe he's in the convo on a technicality but this is categorically different from the flavor-of-the-week tone people are throwing around in here.

This kind of makes me wonder about the validity of the award. In the last 10 years or so, hot take journalism/click baity stuff has taken over in the large media outlets and likely will continue to do so as the hacks’ salaries balloon. These guys get votes and if they vote at all like they cover their prospective sports, theyll go out of their way to go against the grain to prove some strange ego driven point.

Giannis is a top 15 player ever at age 27, about to turn in his best season ever, the favorite for DPOY, very close to winning the scoring title in the same season coming off a finals MVP and perhaps the greatest close out performance in history and yet I won’t be shocked if he’s the distant 3rd or maybe even fourth in MVP voting. Really peculiar when you think of the totality of the situation. I know Giannis himself doesn’t care, so I will be outraged on his behalf. Kind of like Obama’s anger translator on Key and Peele.

Our very own Jim Owczarski also has a vote, same guy who had a ballot for the top 75 greatest players thing and had Westbrook 17th all time in his list, above Dirk, Jerry West, Moses Malone. Dr. J and Barkley were in the 40s on his list lol. Durant above Kareem, Duncan, and Bill Russell too.

There’s a LOT of people on there who should be nowhere close to an MVP vote.

It's supposed to be the first guy teams would take, in hindsight, if they're trying to win this regular season that just finished.
Forget the narratives and how the discussion between idiots on TV has evolved over the years, this is the definition of the MVP.

That's laughable. You're not going to consider whether the best player on the best team might be pretty valuable? If you used that rubric every year you'd probably nail the pick half the time or more with no other info.

Of course I am not going to consider it because it's irrelevant. MVP is a very simple and specific thing, it's a player award, and there is absolutely no need to confuse it with team achievements.

Bringing in Ws and rings and all that other team stuff to compare players is for illiterate people who cannot read and compare simple player stats and the analytics era has gone right over their heads. Which is many of those guys on TV, but it's not us.

I probably wouldn’t have Booker in my top 5. Maybe 5th. But I wouldn’t be mad if other people do have him in there somewhere.

As a fan it kind of sucks for these individual honors.

Giannis is going to sit a few games, bucks end up with a 3-4th seed (turn off for voters) Giannis will fall behind the scoring title too.


Would have been crazy to get MVP, dpoy, scoring title in one season.


It all still seems so close still but, Bud rightly will focus on health first, so I think Giannis is going to fall behind on all of it.

Unless the Bucks over the weekend say "screw it" and go for the #1 seed with Gianni playing normal 32-34 mpg, I agree, though, I don't think he cares and the Bucks are just going to get to the end of the season and protect their main guys.

The good news is that Gianni just entered his prime in the last year and a half. There will be plenty more greatness to follow. Especially with how he's worked so hard to clean up his shot/free-throw. He's only to refine himself from here on.

Not sure it means anything but supposedly Giannis leads the league in 3PT assists per game. The homer in me says that his assists are more valuable before of it. :/

79 points away from being the all-time leading scorer for the franchise above Kareem. There's a decent chance it happens at Fiserv against the Clippers (after Sixers/Nets games). Unless the next two games at Philly and at Brooklyn are big time games where he goes for 35+ (which is possible).
