What a roller coaster season this has been. I only just allowed myself to believe in this team as a championship contender and then this happens.

All the best TimeLord. Fingers crossed he can make it back at some point in the playoffs.

WTF you mean? Torn Meniscus is just about the least severe knee injury. He will be back for round 2

Go up a few posts.

Or better yet... find me an NBA player that tore their meniscus and was only out for for a month (first round of playoffs start April 16th, second round will likely start a month from now). Im genuinely curious if it's happened because I can't find it.

Embiid missed less than a week bossman. Just depends on the severity of the tear. Grade one could just be a pain management thing until offseason after a few games missed. More likely is something closer to 4-6 weeks which puts him out for the first round. This isn't some sort of death sentence

Well we both agree it's no death sentence. Definitely never implied that haha. :D

You're the one thats downplaying this thing with the "not a serious injury" talk.

Just an FYI, Embiid played through a torn meniscus during the playoffs, and he was dominant for long periods of time, with random games where he was slowed down, there is a chance that he could play, but it depends on the nature of the meniscus tear and how much and what part of it was torn. If doctors rule that it's a minor tear and he can't do any further damage then it's just a pain tolerance thing.

I mean death sentence as it relates to his season. Meniscus is the least serious knee ligament injury. ACL/MCL/LCL would all be much more severe. WOJ came back on tv saying Rob has the option to have it scoped/trimmed and be back in 4-6 weeks. Steph missed a month a few years ago with a similar issue and Durant missed 6 weeks. I'm not downplaying it i'm just being realistic with the timeline.

Every time I watch the Celtics it looks like Williams is their second most important player after Tatum. Big loss.

You can make an argument for several Celtics as the 2nd most important, but I don't disagree with your take at all.

Hell the whole defense is built around Rob's unique skillset and athleticism. Huge loss indeed.

In terms of being able to play, that's right. But it would probably impact on his play to some degree if he did play. I can only dream what it's like to have his sort of bounce, but im dealing with this at the moment. I can move fairly freely, but turning midcourt (on a turnover for example) is less sharp, as is my left leg takeoff.

Losing Rob hurts, I think it’s between him and Smart for their second most important player. But don’t get it twisted, this teams ceiling is still tied to Tatum.

Hate to gamble with throwing out a winnable season, but I hope they play the long game with the treatment and recovery option.
156-1 Celtics are frauds when pressure is put on them. They would have been toast if Luka was not stupid enough to foul himself out. Enjoy this ONE finals win. There will never be another with the Js and the Celtics cant afford stacked team.
I think so. It's like he's as important to the Celtics as Jarrett Allen is to the Cavs

Thats what makes the Celtics so dangerous. Williams, Smart, Brown are all their 2nd best player depending on the night and what they need. They are all really good and play both ends.

its pretty much guaranteed 1sr round exit after seeing how bos is reliant on this young pup. relying on grandpa horford seems suicidal.rw3 not getting playoff exposure blows sucks big time no doubt they lost their 2nd important guy.
the only thing they can hope is get good playoff matchups to avoid sweep. i would tank hard for a 3-4 seed and hope to take on the weaklings.
Doncic will be goat. Lauri will be his sidekick.

Dam that sucks I know how hard it is when your center and rim protector goes out. You can adjust but it’s not the same. I hope he comes back sooner then they think I want everyone healthy for the playoffs!
