Re: Fire Pelinka
Well he got the Lakers AD.
Maybe they should have waited a year and signed him outright, rather than give up all those assets.
But Lakers won the Bubble ring in AD's first year?
So worth all the assets they gave up?
Lakers fans were happy about LBJ and Klutch when they got them AD. Unhappy now, don't want them to meddle in personnel any more?

Re: Fire Pelinka
I’m not a fan of story time with Rob. But Rob the GM? I’d say promote him, give him more room to decide on all things roster related. Less input is what he needs.
The guy drafted Lonzo, Hart, Caruso, Ingram, Kuzma, T Bryant, Zubac, Randle, Wagner, THT and more. He also signed us a bunch of extras or fillers like Augustine, Rondo, Bradley, Ariza, KCP, Melo, Reaves, Stanley Johnson, Gabriel etc.
Oh and AD.
I’d say he’s done above average. Almost Logo like.

AD was a no brainer. what made this move special? if he traded josh hart and an expiring for AD (kinda like the kwame/pau trade)...sure I'd call him a genius. but he literally traded all the assets we had for a rental year and barely even made the salaries work lol. if AD got injured that year and pulled a dwight howard in the offseason we're basically left with Danny Green and with ZERO assets. all the assets that were accumulated by the previous FO gone in one season with no backup move. this is why that "3rd all star" that we were supposed to sign was so important but we got Green instead who he traded the following season.

If you wanna say he drafted well, fine. But those are scouting hours and time put into study. Meaning, he easily got pushed off of those hours and weeks of preparation time, and dumped them all. Easily got pushed off his position, and dropped em for what? Westbrook?
If you have a conviction to draft and groom guys, how good are you, when you get easily moved from that stance, and place us where we are currently at? Outside of the playoffs.
A good GM? Hold onto your beliefs in what you drafted, groom them, and just add to it. Not dump em all and trash the team

Happy with all of it. Would do it again, if given the chance (except the Westbrook part). It's not the "meddling" as you put it, that I mind. Just own it. Lebron calling other GM's great, and all that crap. This was his choice. The team went out and got HIS guy...the guy he signed off on. So just own it along with the rest of us.

Meh. If Pelinka didn't get Lebron and AD their guy (Westbrook), you'd be saying he should've got him and blame him for that too. So Pelinka is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Anyway, AFAIC, when you look across the league and compare... Pelinka is a great GM and a very hardworking one too. Don't be fooled into thinking we don't need someone like that at the helm to oversee a rebuild.

So I guess it' on Rob if Jeannie said no, we're not paying Caruso.
No we are not offering a decent contract on Veteran coach Scott Brooks to assist Vogel and
no we will NOT absorb the contract of Christian Wood bec we don't want to spend any more money?

Re: Fire Pelinka
The better question to me, is who can we hire to replace PElinka? Jeanie apparently would only hire people from her social circle, so who from that circle can realistically take this role? Kurt Rambis? Don't get me wrong, I am not a big Pelinka fan. I think he can't negotiate a trade to save his life, but with Jeanie in charge of the hiring, the next guy most likely is much much worse.

Replacement is easy. 1 phone call and a masai ujiri type will take the job in a minute

Re: Fire Pelinka
Masai would get at least $10 million a year.
But no luxury taxes on the GM's salary.

Sure, but Jeanie has a rule about only hiring someone with a Lakers connection. Does Masai Ujiri have that? If not, then by Jeanie's standards, he wouldn't qualify for that job.

If that's all it takes, that would be the best investment Jeanie could ever make.

Jeannie will offer how much to pay him again?
Magic left, Jeannie never replaced him= she saved money
They had 2 expensive assistant coaches before, Kidd left for Dallas, was replaced by Fizdale,
Hollins retired, Rob wanted to hire a vet coach Scott Brooks who knew how to coach Westbrook but according to Ramona Shellburne, he would have said yes but the Lakers offered LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT Portland was offering... Lakers then just promoted Penberthy whose main experience is serving as an shooting coach for the team= Jeannie save money again.
Then they refused to match Caruso’s offer again to save money. Refused to get Wood to save money..... so how much will Jeannie offer Masai again?

Re: Fire Pelinka
I feel you guys are focusing on the Masai part, and not the TYPE part.
Listen, GMs who can do a good job are not as expensive as some round here are making them out to be. Good talent evaluation is not that expensive.
Pelinka traded away his own Era. He ushered in his own draft picks, choices and selections. And then Killed his own Era that he created. Unknowingly, killing his own longevity at this job. He blew it. We are done for the year. Stuck with Westbrook. Stuck with this Old roster.
And I know you guys wanna fight for Pelinka.. But he is to blame. He is at fault. He should be fired. Effective immediately

Re: Fire Pelinka
SIMPLE... Pelinka does NOT know hoops... I was coaching my sons 14U AAU team last weekend at Mater Dei High School & Pelinka's son was on the other team... His son is a slow left handed 3 point shooter with no athleticism or handles but a decent stroke...
We beat them by 30 points but what was interesting is "what" and "when" Pelinka was yelling during the game... All he did was yell "travel', "take a charge" and "don't give up" at the most random times...
One play in particular, my son took it to the rack with ONE step & he yelled "travel"...
Next play, he yells "charge" when his kid fell down by himself... Duide shot a 3...
Later, he yells "Don't give up" when the kids were on "offense" not "defense"...
He yelled, "high post" when we ran "man to man' defense & to "dribble" when we were in a zone...
SIMPLE... He was a marginal player, GREAT agent and a TERRIBLE GM...
He simply does "NOT" know hoops...

Don't worry all ... Only players Lakers will have will be Bron/AD/Reaves next year, hoping we can keep Monk, but let's see how it all unfolds.
As for coaching yep they're all going to be gone, hope for a fresh start and hope we/Lakers can get younger

Re: Fire Pelinka
Westbrook has a player option north of $40 million for next season.
Unless the Lakers can trade him, he will likely be on the roster.
