Re: Robert Williams, aka TimeLord = Elected to have Surgery on Torn Meniscus
Only about 30% of meniscus tears are eligible for the full repair due to blood flow. He probably got the option that was available. He also clearly wasn't as bad as originally thought since the reports say they are thinking closer to 4 weeks.
People overreact honestly. D-Wade had the full meniscus removed and still dominated. Granted he is now dealing with arthritis now. This surgery isn't nearly that serious.

It is an encouraging result for Boston’s big man, who could possibly return during the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. There was some concern within the organization that he could have been ruled out for the year.
From Himmelsbach. Definitely indicates tear was less bad than they thought

Re: Robert Williams, aka TimeLord = Surgery on Torn Meniscus, Expected Return: 4-6 Weeks
I've seen things on Twitter suggesting that Boston may have persuaded Williams to take the clean up and shorter return time as opposed to the longer repair.
Maybe I'm ignorant, but is there really a world where Rob goes "I want to do the full repair like the doctors suggest" and the Celts say "aw c'mon Rob, just take the clean up. We need you back for this postseason!"

Our core is in their early to mid 20's. This isn't a last gasp playoff run. The team's long term interests are closely aligned with Rob's.

It's possible but the doctors wouldn't do anything without robs say. Plus the Celtics are notoriously conservative. I highly doubt they do that. More likely the extent of the damage was low enough that they felt comfortable or he wasn't eligible for the repair.

We've come a long way from someone on Facebook saying Rob suffered an ACL injury to Tweeps saying Cs influenced him to take a medical shortcut for the team's sake.

Even if he does come back as soon as 4 weeks, he might not be the same player right away. And then as good as we look right now, there's no guarantee we make it out of the first round, never mind the second round if he isn't back until the ECF timeline.
I had high hopes with the after surgery news of 4-6 weeks. Then I read this post. Now I'm looking for a chair and some rope.

Barring hearing from Rob Williams, himself; we just have to go with the most likely info.
Trim vs Full surgery is the issue.
I personally think, that he should have done the Full Surgery, for his own health.
Are you sure that a long rehab wouldn't have exacerbated any of his other health issues?

I highly doubt that happened. If anything, I would have thought the team would have been extra cautious to protect their investment, since Rob is the franchise center, only 24 yrs old, literally just now starting to enter his prime and is signed through 2026.
Plus, like the other guy said who quoted your post, the celtics have been very conservative with bringing guys back from injury last few years.
And it's not like we're the heavy title favorites and have some tiny little window to win a title. It's the opposite. We're 1 of like 8 or 9 teams who could realistically win it all this season, but I think most people would say the warriors, nets, bucks, sixers and suns all have a better shot at winning it. And our window to win a title is pretty big, since rob/tatum/brown are all so young and under long term contracts.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

The IT ordeal isn't likely to be so far behind them that they would interject themselves in this manner.

It's honestly pretty insulting to Rob to suggest he was duped or coerced into a course of action that wasn't in his best interest.

This must be what it feels like to be bipolar.
I was feeling amazing when we were winning all those games...just to come down hard when Rob got injured...to feeling cautiously optimistic knowing about the potential 4-6 week time table...to feeling almost as amazing as I did when we were dominating.
Still overall cautiously optimistic...but feeling so much better.
