I still love Derrick, but I really appreciate Josh's contributions to our team. He doesn't need the ball in his hands a lot, is a great defender, great 3s shooter.

Unfortunately, our defense isn't good enough to get stops to catch up. The only thing we can do is hope to outscore them.

I would much rather have Richardson around next year and figure out a way to get someone to pickup McDermott.

3RD Q: SPURS 86
GRIZZLIES 95
Hey we won a Q! And we poured in 34 points! Trouble is, they've just scored their third 30+ point Q. Tough.
Lots of chances we either missed or got discombobulated on, but that's the experience we're learning about.
DJ's leading us with 5-7 from 3! Awesome tonight.
Primo, Jock and Zach have STILL yet to score.
Loving Rich's two-way contributions.
Back to the game...

How many heart attacks did you have when Richardson got that rebound and threw it back to Walker???
I said "NO LONNIE!!" about 6 times

Or we can hope Memphis implodes on themselves??

We can't allow three O boards on one possession. Can't let it happen.

Wasted 5 on 4, Richardson begging for us to move the ball. Then you knew they were gonna hit a three. BBIQ.....

Cant ask for a better look than that. Asking for a foul there is just being a homer.
maybe he should have used his right hand since he was on the left side?

4TH Q: SPURS 111
GRIZZLIES 112
FUN game. TOUGH loss. THIS is where the accumulated details in end of games matter. You can sure argue about Keldon's miss, sure. But giving up multiple O board chances for their scores, or all of our 14 TOs where we lost possessions and chances to score, and all of their open 3s added up.
LOVED LOVED LOVED how we fought to come back from 18 down to come back and make such a competitive game of it. We wanted it badly, and pack this one into the stinging experience for us.
DJ was mostly amazing except when he drove into like 4 defenders lol He recovered and scored, but not the best decision. Neither was his leaning back, one-legged pass attempt to Jakob for another TO. He wants it so bad he tries to do a bit of everything. You can't fault his effort tonight. Mistakes happen, he'll learn.
What we learned about our team and what they've learned about themselves is that they keep fighting and figuring things out while STILL being in the first year of development. Absolute heart, fierce competitiveness, relentlessly going after it, punching back all game long. LOVED our huge run to finish the Q.
They shut down our bigs tonight. Jakob led with 9 points on 4-6, Zach was eventually 2-3 for 4 points, and Jock didn't score in his 4 minutes of play.
Tough when you ave two starters in Jakob and Primo (0-2) combining for 9 points. And when you r highest bench scorer has 9 points (JRich).
Keldon struggled through 9-21 but he was ever present all over the place. Unselfish and terrific passing, great switching and defending, in addition to physical drives, O boards, putbacks, FTs. Much better all around game in terms of overall contribution.
Loved JRich's D and quick decisions with the ball and Tre's fierce hounding D. Nice floater, too.
Lonnie lost his quick decisive groove and was back to over dribbling, pulling back when he couldn't beat his man, only to pass with far fewer seconds left for someone else to do something. Still, it's just his first game back, and he did make some nice drives to get FTs and made some terrific passes.
Devin fought his way to a 50% efficiency game but he (3-8) and Keldon (2-8) struggled from the arc as we struggled to defend it with their constant motion.
We still almost caught them (16-14 made 3s), but they finished with 12 O boards, SIX of which were on two possessions, both of which they scored on. *sigh*
Absolute gut punch, but I've seldom been prouder of our team for their resolute refusal to give up, give in, and call it a night.
Fewer TOs, fewer missed bunnies (throughout the game, not trying to pile on Keldon), fewer rebounds given up - fundamentals and details. It's been a long road, but we're a team that is putting heart and intricacies while incorporating new players all at once. We were down 18 and fought back to the last possession. How we bounce back from this against all the rest of the remaining teams we play will still be telling.
For now, this game was one of growth and fight. We still have a lot to keep fighting for. Let's put this behind us and channel the energy into all the games ahead.
