It was actually pretty garbage.

They stopped calling obvious fouls and it made them look stupid and inconsistent.

Even if this was true, the fix for this isn't going back to the way it was. I saw the Philly-Bucks game last night and Harden was hooking defenders' arms to draw fouls ad nauseum. It's ugly, it's cheating the rules.

I'd much rather go back to the way it was earlier in the season. Then at least the non-call fouls applied to both teams. This foul baiting only benefits one team- - the one that's cheating.

Zach Lowe in his recent pod really shed some light on the state of his performances. I’d be worried if I were the Sixers. Ref baiting just doesn’t get you far in the playoffs.

How can you hook an arm when the defenders arm is supposed to be up?

Answer: You can't.

Harden isn't cheating the rules, he is exploiting undisciplined defenders.

Basketball is an entertainment product. The reason we have fouls is to make the game entertaining. What Harden does isn't enjoyable for fans so the rules should be changed to discourage players from playing like Harden.

Same way the NBA changed the rules to end Riley ball.

Hardenball leads to tons of free throws and tons of uncontested layups. It is super boring to watch

The NBA has completely neutered defense since they early days of this season. I guess they figured low scoring numbers don't help viewership so they called for the officials to call more whistles. Harden's taking advantage of this in a way that we've never seen before...he's getting the friendliest whistle he has ever gotten in his career, which is a high standard to hurdle, while not being able to get by virtually anyone.

As for the league itself, I'm not sure whether their view of "offense and superstars trump everything" draws in more fans. Most fans that I'm aware of are quite turned off by this sudden about-face.

why would you ever defend a washed up former mvp with no title? man fandom sometimes drives people crazy unrealistic expectation he was already done when he chased cp3 out of town. even 1st yr bkn, he was nowhere the houston days and then he partied which made him injury prone.

Because James Harden was on his team, that's why. They could sign Russell Westbrook and he'd spend all day trying to explain why he's more valuable than CP3.

You can make up whatever lies you want.

I criticized Harden profusely before he was traded.

Get a life/hobby and stop worrying about who I choose to criticize or defend  Its getting old.

You’re telling a married man with two kids to get a life while you spend your free time worshiping every person that plays for your team. Your obsession with the Nets and defending every player they have got old a long time ago. At least make it entertaining if you’re going to keep doing it.

Worshipping every player on the Nets? You are beyond delusional. This thread isn't even about a player on the Nets. And when Harden was on the Nets I was very critical of him. Just like I've been very critical of Simmons since he was traded here.

Why don't you spend more time with your wife and two kids rather than obsessing over what topics I chose to discuss on a basketball forum.

Its none of your concern or business.
