During his time in Portland he was not only a very good player but he was also a good person off the court. Well spoken, never any controversy and the sort of person you can encourage your children to emulate.

Very awesome. CJs article about Portland and the trade was well done also. He and the city loved each other.

Dude never demanded a trade and always was a class act Portland appreciated that. I would have been blown away if this didn't happen.

Nice to see a good guy like CJ who leaves one team on good terms and embraces his new team with open arms get a tribute like that.

Only right. He handled himself the best as he could and played the best he could. No-fault to him whatsoever. He's deserving of that standing o.

I honestly can't think of a Blazer who left and I immediately wanted success for him as much as CJ. Maybe Jerome Kersey or Terry Porter were the last times that there was a player close to being this beloved on their way out. I really hope Portland hires him in some capacity after he retires.

Why wouldn't they? The more noteworthy news would have been if they did not give him a standing ovation...

And1 to those Blazers fans, it was going on for a while
And1 to those Pels teammates who seem to already appreciate their teammate, and have an energetic ass way of showing it
And1 to CJ for looking like he was soaking it all in

Seemed like a heavy moment, was cool as **** to watch.

CJ is a solid guy off the court, smart, well spoken and a wine lover.

He’s just a poor fit with Lillard and always has been. This trade should have happened 5-6 years ago.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

Must be tough to leave Portland. Heard Oregon produces some nice wines.

Always one of the most underrated NBA players for his whole time in Portland but never once complained about not getting the spotlight. A complete professional in every sense and represented the city and state amazingly. Still got a winery up here, so I suspect he's going to be part of the Oregon culture well beyond his playing days.

That ovation was well deserved. Just because people saw it was time to break up the Dame / CJ pairing doesn't mean it was anything personal or talent-based with CJ. That pair had just run its course in terms of what they could produce and this is going to be the Blazers last chance to try and build something around Dame.

He owns a winery here and from what I've heard, he plans to live here in the summers (which is really the best way to live in Oregon) still, so he's only "leaving" Portland in the crappy months.

Damn, great way to enjoy life!

All the best to him. Classy gut.
