Las Vegas - New NBA Arena coming
We all knew this was coming, should be interesting to see how this plays out.

Same thing that's happening to Caitlin Clark.

I'll just believe it when i see it when it comes to Seattle. We've been teased so many times with rumors but i do feel its going to happen eventually. The NBA knows theres a big market there dying for a team.

Nice. As an area resident it's about half an hour from me and it's a fairly easy drive. I'm glad that it's on that side of town as it wouldn't make me pass by any of the other major sites to get there.
I also like that they don't seem to be doing it with any public money (well any more than the average arena/casino project).

Well they already have T-Mobile arena. I don't know why they wouldn't just use that place for an NBA arena unless there may be some issues there.
Either way it's gonna be interesting to see how they go with it.

Supposedly with the NHL team and all the concerts there it would be tough to squeeze in a NBA team. But hell if Staples Center(Crypto) can do the Clippers, Lakers, Kings, plus concerts then TMobile should be able to do the same

Maybe the NBA at some point can do right to the Vancouver market that Heisley screwed over by faking that he wasn't going to move the team until he got control of the ownership and then decided to move it.

Re: Las Vegas - New NBA Arena coming
This isn't necessary, not even remotely. Anecdote being what it is, I lived in LV for nearly seven years and the desire for an NBA team was never a big deal. Same goes for the NFL, really.
They already have a capable, NBA quality arena in the T-Mobile arena. There's literally no point in building another.
The Suns used to do the same in the 90's with the Coyotes. Sharing the venue isn't a big deal, but ol' Robert Sarver is selfish and isn't the cooperative kind of person Jerry Colangelo was. That's part of the reason the Coyotes got their own building in Glendale... and now they're out and looking for another arena to be built in Tempe. They're going to share a significantly smaller venue with ASU's hockey team (~5000 seats) until something else comes about.

Three thoughts:
1. I suspect that if LA only had one team and they were proposing getting a second, the league wouldn't be too keen on having substantial shared tenancy. That's how it worked out historically and they managed, but there's a reason that the Clips are building their own place.
2. Multiple potential arenas might also line up with multiple different potential ownership groups. T-Mobile is owned by AEG/MGM (at least it was built as a joint venture between them). If they are interested in being part of the NBA team ownership group, competing groups might not want to be dependent on their arena.
3. Unlike many places, Vegas has enough events/shows coming through to support multiple large arenas. If an NBA team never ends up playing in this one, I'm sure they'll find plenty of concerts and the like to hold.

Re: Las Vegas - New NBA Arena coming
Tim Leiweke's involved...yeah I think the NBA is going to Vegas!
I just wonder if it will be an expansion team or will they just relocate a team like the Pelicans because how will they balance out the Conferences when both teams they're thinking of adding will be Western Conference. Perhaps they move Memphis to the East and add to the East?! Gonna be interesting to see but with all the additional gambling revenue I believe it will happen.

Wow, that sounds like they're finished as a franchise

It's been clear to everybody bet Buttman that the Coyotes have been done for over a decade.

Re: Las Vegas - New NBA Arena coming
Also, Vegas is going to be very saturated with Sports teams I wouldn't be surprised if all these teams go there and eventually relocate in the future.
29th largest MSA, 29th largest CSA, 40th largest Nielsen DMA, there has to be something besides tourism driving. I also doubt the LA teams, Suns, or Jazz would give up any of their TV territory to a Vegas NBA team.
I guess for it's the trendy place to be ... for now...

I don't get it either. The T-Mobile Arena is really nice. There's nothing wrong with it and it's in a great location.
Praying for Burrow

Vegas just isn't the emerging market it was thought of 10 years ago and as mentioned there already is an arena there that's hosted an ASG iirc btw. Seattle really is the only place I'm interested in the NBA for the NBA expanding or moving a team to, not sure why there has to be 2 teams admitted at the same time other than unnecessary desire for an even amount of teams.

The ASG was hosted at the Thomas and Mack Center, not the new T-Mobile Arena. The T&M is where UNLV plays and isn't anywhere close to an NBA level venue for the purpose of a franchise.
As for Seattle and a return to where basketball should still be played, I have no disagreement whatsoever. The league and David Stern screwed the Sonics and Seattle. Don't even get me started on that. The fact that wrong has yet to be righted is a major point of contention. It's LONG overdue and any new franchise should go there first before any other cities are even considered.

Vegas and Seattle. Do it. Then bump Min or Mem to the East.

Why not both?
The real issue is that bringing on teams will cause an issue with the present alignment of the divisions. They'll need to be redone... again. As of now, there's an equal number across both. Even if you moved the aforementioned over and added SEA and LV, it makes for 32. The presently aligned conference divisions are in a three division setup and that doesn't divide equally. They'd have to go back to four divisions with four teams apiece. I just don't see them doing so but at this point, who knows?
