Re: OT: Russia-Ukraine War
Apparently 52% of France agrees with Russia on at least one point. Keep in mind, this is with what people believing that Ukraine is doing well and Russia will eventually lose.
This is worrying in that we still have not felt the actual consequences of the war (more inflation, supply issues, food shortages imo). I think that 52% will eventually go up once Europe really starts to feel the pain of the war.

EDIT: Also, gotta love Western nations always getting a pass for this kind of stuff. Ukraine is still eating **** because of their minuscule neo-nazi parties.
France legit passes what can be viewed as anti-Islam laws like banning Hijabs or controlling Mosques, but it's always the Balkans that's can viewed as anti-immigrant and racists.
Vichy France though!

I keep saying to myself that there's no way that he won't be in jail by then. I've been wrong so far. I hope we got some tricks up our sleeves. These midterms are usually pretty brutal.
I always thought it would be the Al Capone investigations that got him, but now I believe his actions to overthrow the election will nail him for at least some highly convictable counts. Georgia is really going after Meadows and Trump. And the Jan. 6 committee has been doing a great job and will soon be in the daily news with public hearings that are going to stir the pot. And the DOJ just weaponized their prosecution efforts.
Trump will be convicted of something serious before 2024
Yeah but look what happened in NY.

Trump is his own storyline and completely incidental to geopolitical oil considerations. If anyone is talking about Hunter Biden right now they are a nut job. Trump’s main relevance to the Ukraine story is the spotlight is shining on him and the GOP for their loyalties to Putin, but he has no role to play presently. A case could be made that without Trump the invasion would not have happened. His four years in office are a sordid tale of extorting Ukraine, getting impeached for it, performing his duties as a Russian asset and actively working to destabilize NATO.
Russia wants Germany to pay in rubles, because their ability to conduct business in dollars has been crippled. China is wary of Russia now so that’s an ongoing saga. Putin lied to Xi and China has engaged with Biden over Ukraine. They declined Putin’s request for military assistance.
I appreciate the info. A CBS article I stumbled across yesterday made it seem like Russia and China were azzhole buddies now.
As for Trump....yeah....he just proved he was in bed with Putin with his request. Who does that? What an incredible doosh bag. He paved the way for this to happen...and his fan boys act like it didn't happen while he was in office because he was "tough on Russia". BS!!
I have just been avoiding the media at all costs. Going through my own shyt and I just can't right now with the turmoil and nonsense. Again...thanks for the heads up.
When your life takes over I think that is a good decision to let the news pass you by for a while.
How to interpret the mainstream media is a whole other conversation. For future reference, these would be my tips. Don’t listen to anyone who says all media is lies. This is a tactic done to destabilize any truth and it not accurate.
What I do think is true is many platforms do go for clicks so they tend to skew certain angles that will generate buzz. Trump running for office in 2024 is a good example. He is partially senile already and about to be tried and convicted for numerous crimes so the odds of that happening are very low. But centrist media sources love to push it because anti-Trump people fear more years of Trump so they click the story. So that’s an example of BS without actually lying.
If you want alternate news sources in the future, the UK has some good news outlets like The Guardian. Al Jazeera can be very good too at times.
I watch a little bit of all news and then I "follow the money". It's like a trail of breadcrumbs. BBC included. I just don't have the energy to care right now...even though I should to some extent. Life grabs you by the short hairs every once in a while. That's when you need to focus on the problems you can fix and block out the "white noise" so to speak.
Everything people talk about now...I have been saying for DECADES. It fell on deaf ears and now it is being regurgitated by misinformed ears. I don't have time for it. I truly believe people need to get back to community living and providing more for themselves and helping each other. The divisive nature of all media/entertainment/art etc disgusts me. Greed is not good and we are all in this together as far as I am concerned. Everyone is being brainwashed to think one way or another. I am done with that BS. THE RICH VS THE POOR. That's the real battle. You wouldn't know it though the way everyone thinks their side is right and everyone else is fake news.

I think Putin has other things on his mind right now lik3 bombing the hell out of Ukraine to be bothered with Donald Trump’s requests/demands. It goes to show how delusional Trump really is.
On the other hand, if Trump were president now (in reality), I think Putin would do anything to get him to offer Ukraine in exchange for favors of some sort.

I think that in a world of good and whatever you want to call it (bad, evil, selfish, ignorant, James Dolan, etc.), “good” is losing. Look at yhe state of the world. Pandemic, war, imminent climate disaster. Famine is probably around the corner.
But I’m all for being convinced otherwise.

Yeah but look what happened in NY.
I have no time to go into it, but NYC is by no means necessarily shut down. Change of attorneys and some potentially misleading reportage by The NY Times. Bragg appears to be continuing that grand jury with new lawyers
But the fed and congressional side of things keeps ramping up so hang with it

Interesting how the Russians are so fond of the former guy because he was so so tough on Russia as he liked to remind us so damn often. I just can't help but wonder why the Russians would want him as president instead of Biden if he was so tough and we all know how tough he can be? Putin must've been peeing himself from fright.
Hmmm?
