What do the Lakers have to gain from being eliminated?

I'd understand rooting for losses if Los Angeles had their first rounder for next year but at this point even an outside shot at making the playoffs would seem preferable to the season just ending on conceivably the worst note.

Get it over with and getting some real changes done. The sooner the better.

Trading a 1st round pick for CJ probably is the catalyst for us being able to get a pick at 8 or higher from the Lakers. Amazing trade

If the season ended today and the 7/8 seed held serve and we missed the playoffs, the Pels would have:

36.1% chance to get a top 4 pick

0.1% chance for the LAkers pick to fall out of the top 10

10% chance for our own pick to jump into 4, thus we keep that and keep LA's top 10 pick.

Great day all around, I hope the Lakers shut it down.

Imagine if the Pelicans bink the #1 pick and get the Lakers pick at #2.

This is a fun exercise. Imagine the Pelicans make the playoffs and the Hornets get pick 15 from the Pels (Devonte' Graham trade). Plus Hornets miss the playoffs and move up in the lottery into the top 4.

Seriously, GO PELICANS

I wouldn't mind seeing you guys land a top 4 pick along with our Laker pick in the top 4. Hornet bros for life.

Looks like the Lakers are still paying the tab for AD. A return of Lonzo, Hart, Ingram and a top 10 first is a haul. Hart was used to get McCollum. I celebrated that trade in light of the Devonte' Graham trade. What do the Grizz get if the Lakers pick doesn't convey?

2022 second round pick and 2025 second round pick. In this case it's not a good return for JV but I guess they don't really care about that at this point LOL. Considering how they're playing a first round pick is just an icing on the cake.

The Grizz will get two seconds as mentioned.

Also, to be noted we still get a pick swap from the Lakers in 2023, and we get our choice of their 2024 or 2025 pick.

Adams by himself was a good return for JV. Much better fit

That’s what gets me. The Utah game was equally as important as this game, why wait to come back against the pelicans when every game is important to have a chance to make the playoffs? Very weird

True but to be fair, that was a nasty ankle sprain. If this was mid-season probably would have put him out atleast 7 days. A back to back probably wasn't realistic so decided to play in the bigger game.

Well Grizz also moved up in the draft to select Ziaire Williams. Value in that although TBD.

I know for some people that bubble championship was worth it, but its not worth it to me to forfeit your entire future.

That's like blowing all your money and hoping social security will take care of you in retirement.....
I'm so tired of the typical......

We seriously got owned with that trade...we got him to be our shooter and he can't even do it consistently and is a liability defensively...he is getting out played by an undrafted rookie....

How many points did the self-anointed one have in the 4th quarter of a must-win game?

Blowing your entire future is a strong statement. If the Lakers decide to rebuild and trade Anthony Davis, they will likely get a big haul back. Sure, it might be 75 cents on the dollar based on what they gave up in 2019, but it will likely exceed the 2 picks and 1 swap they currently owe on thr AD trade. Plus, after next season the books are basically clear in LA.

So let’s not act like this is Brooklyn Nets circa 2016 - it’s far from it.

LeBron did not want to win that game and he showed it with his play. He got his stats and shut it down. He doesn't want to get embarrassed in a postseason game

Lakers don't have a pick for a few years and while next year could be more of the same but the year after that they have a ton of cap space. I'm sure a bunch of free agents are planning to play there in 2023.

Don’t see how the lakers can rebuild next season
