Luka is a great player but you really need to look at plus minus stats as well as the box score when evaluatitng players. Tatum is off the charts good and Doncic is relatively disappointing.

+/- without any context is one of the most idiotic stats to judge someones impact on the team.

Doncic has been better officially than Giannis since last year's playoffs. There is no one in the league that could play that way against the Clippers with so little help. If Kawhi and co. couldn't stop him, than no one can. And that was just about the best possible defense for Doncic. I mean Kawhi just might be the best perimeter defender of all time.

And if you say, yeah but Giannis is 2x DPOY, yeah I've seen him guard Luka tonight. He did one hell of a job. Step back 3 by Luka and also blow by him and then found 2 easy open threes or smth like that. It was like he was guarded by a chair. What does it matter if Giannis is 2x DPOY, if he can't guard him? Or if the entire Bucks defense can't guard him? It was the same action all the time, all day. Doncic screen and then Doncic gets a good shot or his teammates. No other teammates aside Powell involved, and all Powell needed to do was to run to the basket. Unguardable play, and Doncic doesn't need anyone to perfrom this play, only Powell has to do the most basic job.

Even Jokic struggled against Lebron + Davis + Howard liineup in the playoffs and last year he lost against the Suns without a fight. Doncic has so far never failed to deliver. No black spots in his career.

The advanced plus/minus stats that includes attempts to adjust for teammate quality also show Tatum having an enormous impact.

I don't rank players simply based on on/off but it is valuable data. And in this case it is pointing in the direction that Tatum is a good deal better than you give him credit for

Luka great- Giannis great- I think Giannis better but honestly Luka could have a better game any day… it’s not a fight- if you on RealGM you know I bet the mavs go to finals this year because Luka always plays best in big games- today was a big game and Luka came through.

You want it to be Luka vs Giannis for real… and I don’t think that’s fair considering Giannis has accomplished so much more than Luka and is going to get more mvp votes than Luka this year.

That's the problem you see. You keep bringing irrelavant stuff into it. Show me a game against Doncic when he was outplayed. Don't tell me what Trae did on the weekend. Show me what he did vs Doncic. And I'll tell you smth, he didn't do anything against him. I don't care about Giannis dropping 50 in the finals against the Suns, they aren't a good defensive team anyway.

But you can bring some good series if you want. Like how Giannis improved versus Miami next year, like how Jokic played very well in the bubble against the clippers... Though it's subjective what a good team is. I just don't think that CP3 + Booker + Crowder is a good enough defense. Certainly not on the level of Kawhi + PG13 + Batum / Mann / Beverly...
