This rookie class is stupidly good and will be looked back on like the 1984 and 2003 drafts. There’s like 7 potential all stars and franchise changes

Cade
Barnes
Mobley
Wagner
Kuminga
J Green
Giddey
2016 GMAT Blazers

Howard/Nene/
Griffin/M.Leonard/T.Jones
Porter/Marc.Morris/J.Johnson
McCollum/Stauskas/Thompson/Seldon
Lillard/Bayless/DeColo

It'll probably be more like the 1996 Draft.

Kuminga needs to be off that list until he shows he can do a bit more aside from score.

But I agree, lots of very good players.

When you look beyond the stats and at BPM for example it reads like this post ASB:

Barnes +3.2 BPM
Cade +0.9 BPM
Mobley -0.5 BPM
Wagner +0.8 BPM
Kuminga -1.0 BPM
Green +0.2 BPM

Barnes remains the most impactful rookie since the break and it's not really close.

Has to be one of the most insane Rookie of the Year races in recent memory.

I had bets on both Scottie (pre-season) and Evan (first month) winning it and have since sold them both. Crazy to think Barnes may come back and win it - never would have seen it coming.

Scottie would have benefited so much if Lowry was still on the team.

Nice. You probably locked some decent numbers on that.

It's a super close 3 way race for sure. Scottie hasn't been putting up the counting stats though like Cade has. And Evan has had the narrative all year. I'd say there should be a co-rookie of the year, but like...can you even pick 2? LOL.

I don't think Cade's in it tbh. His season efficiency numbers are just too bad for him to be in the top 2 convo. He's taking 4 more shots to score 2 more points than Mobley or Barnes. Plus the whole both rookies impacting winning angle is big this year.

edit: Could be wrong but just based of betting odds and the narrative. Idk.

I agree he's in 3rd, but he's been balling the past month or so. 21.5/5/7 on 48% shooting. He's turning it over a loooot tho 4TOs per game.
But people will see those counting stats without context, as usual.

If you ask me to split 100 votes, I think it's like 35 Barnes, 34 Mobley, 31 Cade right now, mostly because Mobley has been hurt and wasn't playing as well before he got hurt.

He is just a massive human being when you consider which skillset he has. It would simply be a giant failure if he doesn't become a top 5-10 player. Someone like Kawhi looks small compared to him.

Barnes has perimeter skills with Dwight Howards frame. It's scary to think what he could become.

As big as Scottie is I hope he becomes more physical. I thought he settled too much yesterday when guys got under him. The heat are a physical team and these games going forward will be that much more physical too.
He's also had trouble playing with fouls against the celtics, wolves and Heat. It's all a learning process and getting a taste of the playoffs will be huge for his future.

I gotta say - as much as I'm a huge fan of Barnes & his potential, I've never really understood this comparison. The rook loves the no-look passes, but he doesn't have anywhere near the vision or half-court playmaking of Magic. And that's not a criticism - no one compares in that department. I'd love for him to develop that same turnaround midrange shot, though. Lots of times last night when I thought he should've been more aggressive against that zone and just taken that 15 foot jumper

He has everything to work and improve on, obviously as a rookie.

The first step will be the realization of his physical gifts and use them consistently. For example this kid has much, much better explosiveness and speed than most realize but lack of assertiveness, hesitation and just the first NBA season grind playing 35 MPG has prevented him from showing it consistently.

That's what I hope to see next season.

Beyond that it's growing and developing his skills consistently. You can really name everything from A-Z where he needs to get better at. You can really name everything he has shown shades of this season which is pretty much everything except a 3 point step back jumpshot off the dribble.

Saw he needs 30 more rebounds to be the all-time rookie rebound leader in franchise history. Will be interesting to see if he gets it. He will finish 2nd in points but that's been clear for a while.

Scottie's a big dude has this wide shoulders and arms and he has good base on his long legs. If you tell me this kid is only 225 lbs I'll be laughing at you, that weight is like a year ago he's pushing 240 at least.
