New York Native, I’d be willing to trade everyone minus RJ..he might be the superstar that finally knows and wants what it takes to play in NY

I think Mitchell is the most realistic target for the Knicks in the next 2 years on the trade market. Whether that's exactly the best case scenario remains to be seen IMO... He hasn't shown he can elevate a team past the 2nd round and I don't know if the Knicks have the infrastructure to build a better roster than the Jazz have for him. The good part is that, in theory, he hasn't reached his peak yet so there could be some untapped potential still and the Knicks have a younger core than the Jazz do that could theoretically grow or be used to acquire more proven talent.

I also think he's on that edge of talent where the Knicks would not necessarily have to include RJ to get him which is a big plus in acquiring him as opposed to a more established top 10 guy.

Trade your entire roster for a #2 option?
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I’m not a huge fan but if he wanted to come here and you can get him, you have to get him. He’s going to be 26 by the time next season starts so he probably is who is I don’t think we are going to get anything better than the player he is now. I would have rather waited on Towns or Booker but my confidence level that we could get them is low especially now that the suns are the best team in the NBA and the Wolves are 11 games over .500 and in the playoffs among other reasons

Just get anybody that wants to come here beggars can’t be choosers

As far as Mitchell goes? There's something that isn't quite right with Mitchell and how he hasn't been able to not just elevate the Jazz to anything come playoff time but also his rather poor dynamic with a guy that you would think would be a great fit with him. Talking about his co-star and co-pilot Gobert of course.

This is an interesting article on that matter...

https://fadeawayworld.net/nba-media/trae-young-has-more-total-assists-to-clint-capela-than-donovan-mitchell-has-total-passes-to-rudy-gobert

and includes a rather interesting tidbit to say the least.

Read on Twitter

It almost calls into question is the issue just something between Gobert and Mitchell or is it something that will carry over with Mitchell and whoever else his next "co-pilot" is. There is no question that Mitchell has great individual talent but you have to wonder how much he can elevate his teammates. Now it may not be Marbury bad when it comes to his impact on team dynamic but have to wonder if he is a "star" that cannot significantly make his team better.

Coming from a Louisville fan, I can honestly still say that something isn't quite right with the NBA version of Donovan Mitchell IMO.

For this team, of all the rumored star caliber PG's that may be available, Dejuonte Murray is still the best fit IMO. If I'm trading a lot of assets (emptying the tank) Murray would be the better get IMO.

Now of course a lot of teams will also probably view Murray as the better get and competition could be even stronger especially since unlike MItchell there may not be a preference of Murray to play in NY (and therefore limit competition to some degree). And you can argue that Mitchell would still be better than any PG the Knicks have had in decades, but it's not as automatic a get as many may think especially if the expectation is that Mitchell will be able to elevate this team to anything significant by himself (see every other star level player the Knicks have brought on since the 90's.

Mitchell is who I want the Knicks to target, my personal top target and there is not a single player on this roster I would hesitate to move. Not advocating a Melo trade, but they want RJ or IQ? Ship them out

This is the guy who has stepped up in the playoffs, he was getting 36 points avg in 19-20 and 32 avg in 20-21. That is a 17 game sample size.

Just like Melo, Mitchell has a latino(panama) parent and is from NYC. He's all welcome here. We need to bring in Julius Randles father too, Jose Alvarado who has a 4 year with the Pelicans and plays like a winner.

All seriousness aside, Mitchell is a 6"1 SG who can perform in the playoffs. Imo we need more ball movement. I dont doubt Mitchell. He's gone head to head with some elite players and showed out. I dont think Jazz were designed to be contenders more like the Pacers of the West. Gobert is their all star but he gets exposed on the perimeter (series vs the Clippers). Clarkson is great but outside of him, Ingles is injured and the talent plummets from there.

Knicks should stay put and focus on developing their talent and acquire talent from the draft. Also I think Mitchell will stay in Utah. Hes having a career year and he has no reason to leave tbh. Knicks organization is toxic and hes better off away from NYC.

I don't think we have a single person on the roster Utah would want in return

Maybe Fournier, but that's kind of a stretch. Maybe we can send them Jokubaitis too, but I doubt those two are enough to get it done.

With what? Miami offering Bam and Herro? they dont have the picks to make up for lack of young talent..

Herro and Robinson doesnt beat 6 or 7 picks and swaps

This is wrong on many levels, first they'd ask for RJ, then go down the list, IQ, Obi, Grimes, picks..etc..knicks would have plenty

It would cost RJ + IQ + picks.

Not interested in that.

Mitchell is way better than RJ will ever be and the Knicks don't have anyone close to RJ in terms of talent value. So you want to get the best player for not very good pieces in return? Okay, sounds like a plan. You can't include Mitch in a deal...so you really think the Jazz can't get better than Obi, Grimes, and two firsts? Come on, meow....you have to give up something good to at least try to get something great. A package without RJ won't cut it.
