Re: The Official Fire Doc Rivers Thread
Swapping Doc for Snyder would be such a massive win. I think Doc is best as a transitional coach but isn’t right for a contender because his strategic/tactical flaws put his team at a major disadvantage. But he’s perfect if you need a steady hand at the wheel with a personality big enough to hold a team together.

Re: The Official Fire Doc Rivers Thread
Realistically, in what case Doc is gone?
Championship - he stays, all of the sudden we all love him like a father
Finals - he stays, a ton of respect
ECF - he stays, even if we lose 0-4
EFS - depends, if we lose another game 7, most probably he stays, but if we lose 0-4, 1-4, I think he’s gone
1st round - he’s gone
Am I right?

Everyone wanting Doc out, it's one thing to find another coach. It's a whole another animal to find another coach with a Phd.

I don't think the owners want to be paying three coaches, and the argument will be made to give Glenn an entire off season and year with the Embiid/Harden group.

I think only a loss to Nets in the 1st round prevents him from being gone, considering everyone is healthy.
Isn’t Brett Brown’s contract done after this season?

I also thought Brett had two years left when he got canned. This would be that 2nd year.
That being said, Glenn has 3-24 left after this. Don't see ownership eating all that. I think they have to underachieve this year and next in the playoffs before Glenn gets fired.

Playing Deandre Jordan regular minutes is simply coaching malpractice plain and simple. If Doc continues to do this he deserves to be fired, it’s not even a question.

Dude, even Morey was asking for this openly on twitter.
Have you se the log of minutes played by ben at the 5 last season?M2J wrote:Milsap is old and would've probably just gotten abused inside. According to this board, playing small ball center with him was worthy of Docs firing last week. I wish Reed were a quality player. He is not. He is a bad game away from being out of the league. I'm sure Doc thought the same about SGA when he benched him for avery bradley
Doc also stated that he wanted to find 10 minutes a game for Ben at the 5. It worked well when he replaced Joel, the lineup wasn't great as a backup. He also had another role on the team as the primary playmaker, where they also had a deficit.... They were the East number one seed after being projected as a 6th or 7th seed, and were probably a Danny Green injury away from the conference finals.... Just my opinion.
SGA played A LOT as a rookie... Almost 30 minutes in the playoffs(and Rivers' staff developed him), and everybody knew he was a stud. What's your point there? On a champion team, Bradley probably made more sense with 2 perimeter stars.
Why is it so hard to understand why Rookie mistakes can be detrimental to contenders? Every coach limits th players that don't clean up those mistakes on contending teams. Why is it that they can see them in practice and work with these players for hundreds of hours? But they NEED to show fans of a message board... Especially when we've seen they're not ready. They played Maxey last year, despite having Ben, Seth, George Hill and Shake... plus Danny and Furk...But he was inconsistent.... Yet obviously talented and those minutes meant something for his development. He's chosen not to play Reed in a position of great need for a reason.
And it's the coaches fault? Morey should be angry? It's Morey's effing fault.

Re: The Official Fire Doc Rivers Thread
We really do not know what the coaches think...maybe all the assistant coaches except Doc think that Reed and Bassey should play, but it's his call in the end. Look at the games where Reed and Bassey have played and you can see that they can be very effective in some situations and provide defense, rebounding and hustle. What does DAJ provide? Morey's fault is that he brought in this extremely washed up player, and I'm betting it was Doc's idea. It's better to live through a few rookie mistakes than to have one less player on the court.
And you can compare this with other coaches and teams. Are Miami/Bucks/Boston/Toronto fans complaining about why their coach is playing a washed up player x instead of a young player y? No they are not.

If you follow every board... There's a group of fans that hate their coaches rotation. You're just another one of many.
You don't know what the other coaches are thinking either, and I'm sure Morey doesn't just do what Doc says. That the least likely scenario of all. It's not just general mistakes, they're probably just not ready.
Everybody wants to fall in love with potential, he doesn't have any. He's just young and can jump. If they were tanking, he would play. Doc even played Tony Bradley who can't break into the Bulls lineup.... We've seen Reed play... It's not good. Undersized and unproductive.
It's truly laughable that a bunch of fans, want to fire a coach citing not playing Paul Reed over DAJ who is cooked (true), but recently started for the Nets and Lakers...yet we think we know enough about Reed that he's better for a contender than a 32yo decade long starter, mainly because he's not playing like he used to for 10 minutes.

Recently started for teams that realized just how cooked DAJ is and dumped him, not many years ago Paul Milsap was a good player, it doesn’t mean he is now. Jordan is beyond awful, he can’t even set a pick without committing an offensive foul. There is no veteran upside with a guy that played 95% on physical attributes. As slow and earthbound as Milsap is, when he plays you see a fundamentally sound guy, Jordan is just run and jump. So either play Milsap or one of the young guys who can still run and jump and play with energy.

I don't really care about that. But, we're supposed to want to fire an overachieving coach for no other reason than because we want to see Paul Reed produce as little or less.... But it's okay because he's developing? Maybe.... Developing? If it weren't this issue, it would be because we want to see how awful Isiah Joe does with minutes..... Because " I don't know, but he sure can stroke it and defend in garbage time".
Is it because Doc....is a black guy? A great point was just brought up about this.
I mean when you think about it, there are a lot of people asking for Mike D'Antoni who's known for only playing 6 or 7 players... I will probably play Tobias at backup center

First of all, please lose the black/white thing. Can there ever be a discussion without that becoming the issue?
I don't give a rat's ass if Glenn is green, blue, white, black, or whatever, but in what universe is he an 'overachieving' coach?

The black/white thing was a joke that I didn't bring up.... See previous 2 posts.
Competing for the 1st seed without Ben Simmons, and winning the first seed last year when you were picked to finish 6th, and you had major injuries to your best player.... Overachieving
