You guys are too harsh on the players , every player play to win . If we win 1-2 games cause we got outtank so be it .
We still need the ball to drop out to get one of the first 4 picks . That’s it.

I know the 2023 draft is stacked but I would love to watch SGA/Giddey and a future high pick play at a high level during a full season.

Well Top 3 isn’t happening, and 4 is in danger with the Pacers losing to the Pistons today. Only 1 loss behind us now at 54/55. Lakers might be eliminated when we play, Clippers are locked into seeding, and Portland is a dumpster fire. We might win all of those honestly.
The Pacers play the 76ers twice B2B, and close with the Nets. We’re screwed so start praying to the lotto gods.

yeah the gap between bottom 4 to bottom 5 is bigger than from 3 to 4...would be a disaster.

can't blame OKC...Phoenix shooting 7/38 from three and barely defending hurts. Not much you can do in this scenario.
Always gonna have a couple of stupid wins like this even if your team suck. Main issue is that we can't get great lotto odds with SGA/Giddey/Dort.

I know we are only in year two of the tank but if you can't tank any better than this don't bother just start trading draft picks for good young players. At this rate Fans are going to lose interest. I know sun's played like crap but earlier in the year we weren't doing a good job with the tank.

If they tank correctly now we are tied with Houston for #1, now we gonna end #5.
Horrible season.

Re: 2021-22 OKC Thunder Regular Season Discussion
We trade George and Russ for Cp3 and shai. Instead of moving Cp3 we delay tanking so we can get what will be the 30th pick in the draft. Then we take on Horford for another mediocre pick. Shai gets better and Horford is still good. Nw we win too many games to get the best odds for our own pick. Now comes year three and guess what? We wait too long to start actively tanking and once again win too many games. Presti has handled this rebuild poorly.

Would we react the same way if we had average luck on last year's draft?
I think it's fair to discuss about the transition year that cost us one season of rebuilding but we also got many assets. CP3 was a very negative contract and we got decent value for him (nobody thought it would be the #30 pick but the trade was fine), Schroeder went from a negative contract to a late first and Adams package was huge for his contract. We tried to tank as much as possible last season and this season but somehow even the worst squad possible ends up winning games (can't ask to sit SGA even more games, even if I think we made the mistake last season to play him against some of the worst teams like the Rockets).
Main issue is that it's very difficult to have a bottom 3 record when u have a borderline all star and some decent prospects and I'm not that confident about Presti's draft ability (can't complain about Giddey and Mann but two FRPs for Poku was crazy, we massively overpaid for JRE who's at best a rotation player and that's being optimlistic and Bazley/Maledon are likely bust as well).
We clearly need to decide whether we trade Shai or improve our roster this offseason, it's already difficult to be a rebuilding team but with a 5-6 bottom record it's even worse. I get that it was very difficult in last year's draft to move up to the top 3 but if Presti is willing to keep building around Shai, he should be able to move up in this draft with our own pick or with the LAC pick to get two guys in the 6-8 range.

I’m beginning to doubt the utility in having so many mediocre firsts, but at the same time, I’m not sure this is the draft to spend many assets to move. I just don’t see a lot there. In the top 3 or the top 10.
I think it’s either time to trade Shai or start building with the intent of being Utah.

Yes I agree this isn't a great draft. What we need is size and three point shooting. I dont think Maledon and Baz are going to pan out. I think Mann was a steal though. I am not that excited about this draft for pfs, maybe trade down for two picks like 7,8. I think griffin would really help out three pt shooting just not happy about his athleticism. I just don't want to wait until 2023 draft.

At this point I just don't see what else we can do. Who might be available via trade? Donovan Mitchell maybe but it would cost a lot and I don't like the fit with SGA/Giddey. We may try to offer Ayton a max contract but Phoenix will match even if it's an overpay.
if most FOs agrees that the draft class is weak, it shouldn't cost that much to move up. Can still get another good player in the top 7-10 of this draft by moving up with the LAC pick
And yeah most of our picks from others teams are pretty mediocre (Rockets pick swap last season was so good but we got unlucky). Clippers FO is doing a terrific job so unfortunately we have the picks from the wrong LA team and it's not even sure the 2024 pick from Houston will convey.

I'd try and trade up to get Chet if we have bad luck in the lotto. Id even trade Dort or anyone not named Shai/Josh.
I'd also trade up for Jabari but wouldn't include Dort, just future picks.
Everyone else in the draft doesn't excite me at all. I like Ivey but he is not a good fit with Shai and Giddey imo.
I like Sochan, think he could be a Boris Diaw/ PJ Tucker hybrid. Maybe use our Clippers pick and a few others to get into the top 10 and grab him.

All of this was easily predictable when CP3 was acquired for Russ which was an improvement to the team for that season. Shai became too good for OKC to tank effectively if you are going for the worst record. Presti delayed the rebuild for years and it ended up costing him. He could still get lucky and end up with the top two picks in the draft.

Trading Dort won't help us to move up that much. Not willing to trade our 2023 pick without some big protection (top 8) so not much value either...wonder if our 2024 unprotected pick has significant value.

No way can we put one of our picks on the line yet. We will still be tanking in 2024, based on our current trajectory.
I would put other picks out there. But not ours.
Dort might do more than you think. All depends on how the lotto shakes out.
