People say Magic is annoying now but its really Kareem

Post#1 » by GrindCityHustle » Wed Apr 6, 2022 4:28 am

I have given off alot of weird ass vibes in my life so I know it when I see it. Kareem is doo doo butter.

I see stuff this like every year from Kareem and as a longtime NBA fan I think he needs to be called on it. He always says stuff then takes it back.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/33664003/los-angeles-lakers-legend-kareem-abdul-jabbar-criticizes-some-lebron-james-actions

He has been out of the league forever so you think he could have grown as a man. He acts woke then regresses to his true self. He can't coach or even get along with people long enough after retirement to help future generations. It is like he has had 30 years to work on himself and he still is salty for some reason but claims he is super woke when everyone else isn't. Dude was a drama king when he was Lew Alcindor. He just likes to leave out stuff that relates to his own failures as a human being that he was born super tall and dominated in an era were he was the most athletic. He was blessed with a life many can't even have. I don't think ive ever seen an athlete as ungrateful as him during retirement.

"Some of the great things that he's done, he's standing on both sides of the fence almost, you know? It makes it hard for me to accept that when he's committed himself to a different take on everything. It's hard to figure out where he's standing. You've got to check him out every time."

Lebron can't be happy he is making clutch moves in a competitive event on a court at his age? Would Jordan not do the same?

Does Kareem not know how massive a prick Jordan is off the court and he is considered better than both?

Even as a kid Magic was more likable to me. Dude had AIDs and a corny TV show and was more likable. Magic is like a version of Charles Barkley. He plays up to the camera but deep down you know he is a good dude. I know firmly now Kareem is not a good dude. I see he is sick now so I will give him a pass if he isn't feeling well but my criticism goes years back before all that.

He apologized AND his comments were pretty mild anyway.

i'd say magic is more annoying simply because he's just in our faces more with just ridiculous takes on the game. kareem is 74. it'd be weird if he thought the big balls dance was cool. and he's not really saying anything other people havent said about lebron anyways.

also magic did not have aids. hiv+. not same.

Kareem's an ATG with an untouchable resume. He's also a very intelligent, insightful person.

But his personality has always been grating which is a major reason he gets less due than his owed.

Kareem is an all time great, maybe even the GOAT. But he’s also a huge blowhard and prick imo. Is there anything this guy can’t complain about?

Sticks his nose into everything and never had anything good to say.

His kid straight up stabbed a guy and he’s still out here acting like he’s father of the year lecturing people on how to live their lives.

He has always been salty, insecure, and bad mouth.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: This Bucks team won’t win a title (right before they got one)

Bucks vs. Suns Finals, got interviewed because he was the best Bucks before but he decided to wear Lakers jersey with Lakers poster in the background. Just bad taste.

I'm always surprised that people care so much about the opinions of all time greats of a past era. No shade to the greats, but they'll usually downplay the current era compared to their own.

Honestly it's like music. I personally don't like much of the new, and I'm a fan of the artists/stuff from my time.

It's probably a generations thing.

Like, personally, I don't care what he has to say. But I grew up watching the NBA in the late 90s, so I never saw him or Magic or Bird or even Jordan, really, play. I grew up with Iverson, Dirk, KG and Kobe (RIP), so if guys like that speak...yeah, I'd listen.

But aside from the fact people have told me he's great, I wouldn't know Kareem from any other retired tall guy. Well, except for the fact he was in that Bruce Lee movie. And that that cameo inspired a minor character in Cowboy Bebop. But neither of those points are relevant here, so yeah.

Not sure why you need to make it look like he only made it because he was tall and athletic, sure he got lucky to be born that way, but he's one of the most talented big ever.
Also IIRC this comment was about how Lebron has been a sneaky covid doubter and trying to influence his fanbase that way. Kareem's comment was about that IG spiderman post and I totally agree with him.

ngl it's pretty sad how hardcore Lakers and LeBron were celebrating putting away a Pacers team that had 0 aspirations to be good and was missing key players. I'm with Kareem.

It looks even worse in hindsight considering now their season ends as the 11th seed in an easier than normal West. What an embarrassing season, easily the worst in franchise history.

Kareem is literally a Professional Opinion Haver, and getting folks to start threads like this is his bread and butter.

He's a brilliant writer and probably the most thoughtful and educated ex-player ever. I know that scares some folks.
