keep i guess? idk
change
worse than expected
waning
trade everyone you can. lebron too old to solo carry a team now and ad gets hurt too often. might as well see what you can get back for them.

Doesn't he have a no-trade clause? Besides if he's breaking Kareem's record, the Lakers would want it to happen with them.
He is in his last legs, he is not going to compete for a title in LA, he would welcome a trade imo, for the Lakers, he got them a title, it was a good deal, time to let him go, he's been doing way more damage than good at this point and he can still get them value back.

Don't forget Pig Miller in that list.

The plan is pretty straightforward. Teams will take Westbrook now that he's an expiring and the 2029 first can be attached. Get the best deal you can and re-tool around LeBron and a hopefully healthy AD. There really isn't much else to do.

Re: Post-Mortem: 2021-22 Los Angeles Lakers
The number of teams that could take Westbrook are VERY slim seeing he's owed $47M next season as a player option and there's no way he's turning that down. He'll also be the highest paid player in the league.
I don't really see many teams unloading a sizable part of their roster to take him on, either.
I see him riding it out for that last year.

Re: Post-Mortem: 2021-22 Los Angeles Lakers
Expectations: unperformed relative to fan expectations but the roster had a lot of skeptics from the pre-
Coach: Fire. I don't think he's nearly as bad as critics claim. But fans want a scalp he's not a great fit for the roster or the direction of the NBA.
GM: Not sure he's the problem. The Lakers have been burning down the management of capital of previous regimes for a decade since the NBA interfered in the Paul trade and the Howard acquisition which was wise but didn't work out.
Players
Hardest Keep: Anthony Davis. His trade value right is at its nadir. His last tenure in a small market ended with him very unhappy and demanding a trade. Accordingly there aren't many teams looking to trade for him. He is coming off two injury shortened seasons. He's on a huge contract and will be 29 next year. Accordingly out of those few teams open for him you are going to get ludicrious offers that are far worse than hoping for durability next year.
See if you can get rid of: Westbrook. It was a trainwreck. Everyone knows it. I'll defer to cap experts on whether it makes sense to try to sell or keep him for 1 year.
Lebron: your most valuable asset. If he wants a trade. You can probably still get a quick rebuild out of all the assets you'll get. If not you're trying to retool

Can someone explain to me how over a third of the respondents are saying the Lakers performed better than expected? You expected them in the play-in or to fight for the play-in. I get that. But do these people really see the Lakers as the worst team in the West who banded together to overachieve and get 11th?

Where to start? Bad roster construction, bad coaching, bad players.

Keep everyone and run it back next season, I’m gonna need the lol’s next season. Hopefully they’ll clinch the 12th seed next year.

I actually think Lebron overperformed in-game. I expected more decline.

lakers are pretty much homeless version of the warriors. washed up stars that have couple of yrs left heading for retirement.
the only reason lakers are not in playins and gs is a top seed is bc the warriors spend 100mil every yr to keep their core afloat. but in the end these teams arent going to win titles their best days are behind them.

Run it back with a healthy Nunn. I was told all year he was the missing piece

Player Option for 47M will define their chances next season.

Of course he will. He's not getting paid even half that anywhere else.

They have no cap space, no draft picks and no young talent. They are screwed next season and might as well try and run it back one more time. Maybe when Westbrook and Lebron are off the books after next season they can try and go after some free agents to build around AD.

I don't see any other option except to run it back. Pray that Westbrook doesn't pick up his PO, which he likely does.
Retool with young athletic 3&D players. Try out different G-League prospects, maybe buy a pick and draft one.
Resign:
Austin Reaves
Wenyen Gabriel
Malik Monk
Dwight Howard
