Will committing that kind of money to him help or hurt the chances at improving the team? Depends a lot on when they can get WB money off the books.

Westbrook wouldn't affect it. He comes off the books after next season...which would be when Lebron's extension kicks in. Lebron's contract prob wouldn't mean too much, big picture. He's already making 40-some mil a year. It would cut available funds down a few million....but teams seem to all be able to skirt around that.

You can't pay Bron 50mil per year for the next 3 seasons. That's madness. If he demands this, time to let him walk away next year.

He's still good, obviously, but there's no future in him anymore. As a staunch lifelong fan of the guy it saddens me but he's pushing 40 let's be real.

Tough to rebuild when Pels have a 2023 pick swap, 2024 (option to defer to 2025) first round pick from us.

I think your 100% correct. As much as I'd like to tear the whole thing down, I just don't think we'll be getting much of anything if we try shipping our guys out. I think there's some value out there for AD...and if the right trade came along, I'd totally pull the trigger. And then let Lebron do whatever he wants after that. But I think thats prob less than 5% chance. I think AD's injury history makes him too much of a risk for most teams.

So yeah.....barring a miracle, I don't see us having much for options. If we're stuck with AD, we might as well commit to Lebron.

Not saying I like it. And I do agree 50mil is nuts. But we don't have alot of options.

Whatever happens.....Westbrook has to go. Even if we just pay him to stay home. Keep is ass away

Time has come; curtain call for the Lakers/ Lebron,, AD & Westbrook. The NBA's new generation of players are here; it has come time to change the guard. This team can not win with Lebron. He can not carry a team and dominate and change the outcome of a game with the elite teams of the NBA today. Statistically Lebron can score and his basketball savvy is very good. He knows how to play the game. The best way out is to give Lebron and AD trade destination options. Next the Russell Westbrook drama trade and get something of value. The reminder of the team should be evaluate as needed basis for the future or traded. The Lakers need to rebuild this team for the future ASAP.

This.... however the Buss family needs their trusts fortified. Have you seen the inflation! They will not let Bron or Davis go unless they get as marketable players back.... which they won't. These owners LIVE off of the Lakers and having 3 years of 30 win seasons again isn't what they will do willingly.... it will happen after Bron is gone but they aren't initiating it.

Who are the Klutch free agents this year?

Lakers may be able to get someone like Monk again, a minimum contract who way outperforms it.

They have to start with turning Westbrook's contract into something first.

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
