I don't think he will either...but he won't get as many oppurtunities as Dempster.

Dempster has been effective in SAVE situations.

However, any time he comes in in a NON-SAVE situation he has been garbage.

Dempster just gave up 4 runs in 1 inning.

He is the worst Cubs reliever since Dave Smith in 1991. Smith had 17 saves and a 6.00 ERA and I looked on with amazement every time they put him in during a save situation.

Rick Aguilera used to blow a lot of saves, too, but we were bad as a team so perhaps one wouldn't expect to have a fine closer. We don't have that excuse now.

Good points. I guess I just repressed those memories. I paid more attention and invested more emotion a longer time ago, so those memories are freshest and most painful.

My painful memories are always on recent events/tragedies.

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned Kerry Wood as our possible closer. He's been clutch in the playoffs before, I'd feel comfortable with him pitching with the game on the line, what do you guys think?

I believe the idea of Woody as our closer was more commonly discussed earlier in the year when he was still healing. But the greatness of Marmol this year made us talk mainly about him.

Everytime Woody comes into a game I think I make some comment about wanting to see him close in the playoffs.

Dempster's stuff (or lack of) reminds of Joe Borowski. I fear he is going to pull a Mitch Williams in the playoffs. :(
