Idk. He’s probably looking for the max. What had he done this season that warrants paying him that much over Gary Trent. Especially with the way bulls season is ending

a small trade in the off season.flynn plus 2nd for a late first if they like someone there.Bigger trade..you got to wait for the right opportunity we don't have an obvious glaring need right now,so doing less is doing more sometimes.

maybe flynn for a big man on a rookie contract who is not working out for their current team. don't have any names but considering the possibilities....

Is David Johnson worth keeping as a two-way player?
comparing his sophomore season and G-league season, looks like he's shooting did not much improved. Flynn has not been all that good either.
Looking at FA class, the backup handler/PG position looks pretty thin as well. Do the Raps just hope Banton is going to get better and hope that he can fill that spot?

DJ can take Bonga's spot next season.

T. Jones could be a target. Personally think they hope Banton develops into a rotational player next season. Don't think they count on Flynn anymore.

How about Flynn and Birch for a resigned Jalen Smith? Its kind of like a small scale Kyle Lowry deal. Indy gets a prospect and a vet on a tradable deal, we get a solid prospect in Jalen Smith on a reasonable deal and we get to maintain our full MLE and a lot of space below the tax to address 3rd guard.
I might throw in a future second, but I have become super bullish on Jalen Smith recently. Kid is a modern big and is more than willing to shoot the three.

If Gobert is available, there is no chance the Raps don't try everything to get him without giving up Scottie, Pascal, Freddy. People over state his playoff struggles. If he had guys that could actually guard around him, he could easily play away from the rim.. Boston and Timelord is a perfect template for what he could do (at a much higher level).
Would easily elevate us to a conference finals level team and if Scottie makes a leap - championship contenders.

I think Precious can basically be Robert Williams on defense for us next year, with a better bag on offense.
Don't see how we take on Gobert's massive contract. We would have to deal Trent, OG, Birch and fillers. I can't see this happening.

I know it's way down the list of actual team needs, but selfishly I wish we had a big time lob threat. One of those "just throw it near the rim and he can go get it" kind of guys. With the creativity and community on this team, the guy would have ample opportunity for easy buckets, while providing a lighting rod of energy.
While the majority of our guys are quite athletic (for the NBA level), they seem to play conservatively with their hops. Probably better for them long-term, but just my fan musings.

I guess it depends on what the FOs expectations are over the next 2-3 years. Precious is super high risk/variance and growth isn't linear. If you really believe in him taking that kind of leap next year, you can throw out Freddy, Scottie, Pascal, Precious, Gobert as a 5-man unit. You open up touches for Barnes this way as well by replacing OG/Trent with a player that imo has a higher impact then both of them.Madhouse wrote:GooniesNeverDie wrote:If Gobert is available, there is no chance the Raps don't try everything to get him without giving up Scottie, Pascal, Freddy. I like the options this team has. Even if they just get a couple of impact depth pieces with the MLE and work hard on developing Flynn, Banton etc in the first non-covid offseason in 2 years..
We're in a great place.

Watching Scottie play point when Fred is out, I wonder if the team would commit to Scottie at point guard full-time and trade Fred. They wouldn’t give him away it would have to be for a player like Gobert. I don’t think the idea is that crazy.

I mean Freddy is an elite defender and shooter.. he's also very comfortable playing off ball and initiating offense. I love the idea of Pascal, Scottie and Freddy all being capable of doing both. The versatility on both ends will be a problem for other teams.goinrogue wrote:Watching Scottie play point when Fred is out, I wonder if the team would commit to Scottie at point guard full-time and trade Fred. I also value Freddy's place in the organization as a leader. Having your leaders go from the gleague to all-star games sets an example for guys like Banton and Justin (who are fully embracing the 905 as well).

Malik Monk would be a great addition imo. 3-level scorer with underrated passing and the ability to get in the lane. He's young enough to be part of our core, and would give us a dynamic scoring element off the bench that we lack.

His contract is the problem look at the money owed to him. I doubt he's going to be a elite defender for the later part of his career. The cost also is going to be quite high. I don't see them wanting Trent Jr as they have Mitchell unless Mitchell is their PG. So your probably looking at Anunoby plus and the salaries are off by about $15 million. Tried to make it work with Achiuwa, Birch and Anunoby and it was still $10-$12 million short plus your looking at multiple firsts plus a few swaps makes it not worth itGooniesNeverDie wrote:If Gobert is available, there is no chance the Raps don't try everything to get him without giving up Scottie, Pascal, Freddy. FFV at the moment is irreplaceable. We need his 3-point shooting.

Come in peace, but if PDX moves up to, say, #3 and is dedicated to a win-now w/ Dame would TOR consider:
Eric Bledsoe, Justice Winslow, #3 for Pascal?

I don't see Masai moving Siakam for a pick;
The core seems to be working well and the rapid rebuild seems to be ahead of schedule.
Siakam has also seemed to find his pre-bubble form and while in theory the value may be correct, moving Siakam would set the team back massively even if they did well with 3.

so basically a pick for All NBA Siakam ? I doubt it.
Anfernee Simons + FRP sounds better to me. But I wouldn't trade Siakam.
