Who do you think actually is better, Booker or prime Klay?
I tend to still think Klay because:
- he was a better movement shooter and that works great for second option, and I am not sure Booker is elite enough as a primary creator
- even if he was maybe overrated, I still like Klay's defense more

I'd go with Klay too. Klay fits on and would be able to contribute to his max capabilities in virtually any kind of team situation.

Re: Booker vs Klay
Tough call as I find both to be incredibly overrated. Booker has made serious steps this season though and assuming he keeps up his level in the post-season I think I'd slightly lean towards him over Klay mainly because Klay's production is heavily reliant on not one but two of his teammates.

I’d take Klay 10/10 times if you’re building a winning team.
He’s a better shooter, not quite the shot creator that Book is but he’s light years ahead as both a team and on ball defender.

Their impact is lower than how they're regarded in the media and mainstream?

Re: Booker vs Klay
I think Booker is clearly better. Klay has been slotted into the ideal set of circumstances and skill set and has thrived. But the odds are very much against that in a random re-starting of careers. And look at Booker once he got a real head coach and got his own intelligent co-star in Paul? He's been individually brilliant and his team has been completely dominant.
And I think Booker can give a team a lot more regardless of what's around him. Klay as the best offensive player on his team means your offense is likely going to be terrible. He needs others setting him up far more than Booker. And I don't think his defensive edge separates him enough.

Clearly is a bit of a stretch, imo. But I do think this season, Book has had a better regular season, than Klay ever did. For me, I need to see Booker playing at this level for another year before I put him ahead of peak Klay.

Re: Booker vs Klay
light years? you're either overrating Klay's d or underrating Book's. possibly both. peak klay was a better defender but t's not as big of a gap with current book.jasonxxx102 wrote:I’d take Klay 10/10 times if you’re building a winning team.

I don't even know that Paul matters to Booker's play. Paul arrived in Phoenix last year. Aside from an uptick in 3pt shooting, Booker's basically the same player. The three years prior to Paul's arrival, Booker averaged 26.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg, and 6.1 apg on 46.4% FG, 35.4% 3P, 89.0% FT (6.9 FTA/g), 59.0% TS, and .360 FTr (and his percentage of FGM assisted is only a little higher than his 19-20 season). Since Paul's arrival, his draw rate is down, his 3P% is up and he's showing much better on stuff like DWS and DBPM. He's taking a higher proportion of threes and hitting them at a better rate, so it's working out, of course. Anyway, my point, he was pretty awesome before and I don't think Paul has had that much to do with Devin's individual play. Far more so, of course, Phoenix's team success. The team is rather obviously benefiting from Paul's arrival, which is a surprise to no one, either due to Paul specifically or just the general idea of improving quality of teammates.

I say Booker. I doubt if you switched Booker with Klay in his prime last year beat the Lakers.
