Leicester are sure to make lots of changes today. Our return match against PSV on Thursday is our season!

Villa need a whole new spine of a team and I’m going to say possibly a clean slate without Gerrard there…
@HIF Leicester have 3 points waiting for you when we play you guys next
It was a very difficult first half for Spurs. With some quality up front the game could have been won for Villa in the first half. You can see what the game plan was: Nobble the Spurs players early, play physically and aggressively and make them think twice about coming out. Didn't work out because nobody could put it in the net, and Lloris had a good performance, but it felt like a good strategy and we had nothing going on in midfield.
Second half we were phenomenal. Kane, Kulu and Sonny lethal. Feeling very optimistic about this team going forward under Conte, the first feeling of genuine excitement since Pochettino's Spurs teams.
It was probably our first game that I remember since coming back to the prem, where we actually played physical. Villa for the last 3 years have been SOFT. Far too many times we go a goal down and I know we will lose. The problem lies with our midfield, we’ve invested so much in our forward players and neglected our midfield and defenders. We need a solid midfield and all the teams above us have that maybe except Man Utd.
Our board is going to give Gerrard a huge warchest to buy who he wants, I can see us selling 7 players from our first team.

The New Everton?

The New Everton?
Hopefully not

What I will say though is that it’s the managers job to alter the tactics to suit personnel and I think Gerrard has been too stubborn to tweak this. He just wants players gone and to bring in his ones to suit his system. Can I trust him to do that? I’m not too sure, I never wanted him as our manager but I’ll support him. I wanted Favre or someone of that mold that has experience rather than taking a punt on a unproven manager.
Interesting times ahead for us.

Early goal for City in the huge game against Liverpool.
De Bruyne has a shot from outside the box, but a deflection sends it past Alisson.

Jota equalises. Very good job by Liverpool to get back in it so quickly, City were looking threatening early.

Pool look all over the place. They're not handling the press well at all.

2-1. City have been much the better side, a bit disappointed in Liverpool so far.

Welp, second half starts and Liverpool immediately score. Mane, 2-2.

What a game, City and Liverpool are clear of the rest of the league.

As entertaining as this game is, I have to laugh at people calling this the greatest premier league rivalry. It’s no where near, it’s still Fergie’s Utd vs Wenger’s Arsenal. The managers genuinely disliked each other, the players did too. Pep and Klopp sing each other’s praises whereas Wenger and Fergie sent shots for each other lol.

It's definitely the greatest rivalry for now, but yeah, people forget just how intense those United/Arsenal rivalries were. Probably because both teams are in purgatory at the moment.

Oh yeah as of now it is definitely the greatest rivalry currently, but I wouldn’t say of all time like some have suggested. Maybe in general with the Premier League the rivalries are not as intense? I remember if Villa lost to a Midlands rival it would bother me so much, we lost to Wolves and I didn’t even care at all.

Re: 2021-22 English Premier League Discussion Thread
Predictable draw but great game. Reminded me of the Man City-Chelsea draw a few seasons ago when Pellegrini and Mou led the clubs. It's also the best case scenario for Atleti since City couldn't rotate & rest much.
I doubt the FA cup return will have as much quality as the league draw since both teams will probably prioritize the league.
I wonder if Pool will view this as an opportunity missed at the strength of remaining schedule seems more challenging for them than City.

Not much to say about that dreadful Spurs performance. Credit to Brighton.
Thankfully Arsenal managed to salvage the weekend by following suit. Man United are lurking now, though.

It's a fight to avoid the CL.
