‘He just has a charisma about him’: Jamahl Mosley brings passion, energy to Magic (Spears)

Post#1 » by Knightro » Mon Apr 11, 2022 3:02 pm

The young and injury-plagued Magic finished an Eastern Conference-worst 22-60 this season. Mosley said his biggest frustration was not having a full roster or a healthy lineup in which he could have mixed youths and veterans for most of the season. Mosley does have some talented young players in Carter, Cole Anthony, Franz Wagner, Mo Bamba, R.J. Hampton and Jalen Suggs, who are all age 23 or younger. Mosley did find some positives through all the Magic’s struggles.

“The things I would take away from this year would be the importance of time management on and off the court,” Mosley said. “The continued relationship-building with each player and staff member, and importance of constant communication with players, coaches, support staff and front office. The biggest triumph was seeing the growth of these young players. Seeing their confidence level soar knowing that they belong and can have a level of success with the work that we have put in.”

Honestly can't complain much about coach Mosely... other than icing out Franz from time to time. He's worth keeping for at least a few more years while we evaluate the team.

He did a very good job keeping the team engaged despite this rough season. Want to see how his actual strategies and game management play out when we have a healthy and competent roster.

With a full year in I would say he is better than Jacque Vaugh. He was able to get those guys to play hard almost every night. That's not easy with a young, not very talented team.

despite the record Mosley did a good job.

i mean, with all that happened,he built the 18th defence in nba, that is pretty impressive.
offensively we have been atrocious, but the"material"it is what it is

he would have to tighten rotations next year,to work on a group of 8-9 players, but that probably not gonna happen thanks to lazy weham job.

anyway is already way better than j.vaughn as rebuilding coach(easy win i know)

One of the things I’ve liked about Coach Mosley is that you can tell he’s a favourite here. The staff seem to be fond of him and likewise the players. He came across like a dad type figure for the players, which is what we needed for our young guys.

Defensively you can see the potential there as a whole, but offensively he left a lot to be desired however look at the players we’ve had to roll out at times. Plus he is still early into his head coaching career, I’m sure after his holidays and family time he’ll improve our offense for the following season.

I hope he can stick around and I hope he can be the one leading us to winning ways.

Interesting that Coach actually improved the win total over last year; (in 10 more games played, but still).

By percentage, this was only Orlando's 5th worst-ever season.

I like him. I'm happy with the hire and I'm happy with this past season. I give him a lot of credit for the development we have seen this year. Lets continue to add talent and see where this goes.

I'm looking forward to next season. Maybe we'll actually be playing to win!

Yeah... I wanna see him coach when he doesn't have the mandate to tank like what we saw this season. I mean those are some questionable lineups he threw out there even beginning of the season.

He was pretty great. Refreshing not to have the grumpy old 90's style coaches that the Magic have gone after forever.

I hope he gets to go full blast next year and we try for play-in or beyond.

I like Moseley too. It’s hard to gauge exactly how he did this year obviously it being year 1. We really start looking next year to see individual improvements of the players and being more competitive in games. But I think the guys play hard for him and I think he’s got the stuff to be an excellent coach when the talents peaked.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

Really happy with his performance this season. You could see the players playing every possession despite the games being a sure loss or sure win.

So far, so good. I'm hoping the defense will really "pop" with a year under his belt, some personnel moves and the tank mandate lifted. The day after we re-sign Bamba, I want him moving into Mose's house, eating with him, shooting in the driveway, etc...There's more there and I'd like to think Mosley is the guy to pull it out. He composes himself strong and steady like Bill Russell - if he could just break down Bamba's walls...I also choose to believe he saw what Cole was doing and he didn't unilaterally roll with it as OK. :noway: I wonder if Cole is another colt that needs breaking and if Mosley can reach him and get him to play the right way. Cole's talent is undeniable, I love his personality, etc

anyway...I like Mosley, even if such a screwy situation makes it a little tough to tell what his focus was (tanking vs. developing vs winning) - obviously, it wasn't winning...which is good for now.

I hope he can find and hire a good shooting coach.

And-1

Orlando's offense is a mess. Bu advanced analytics, only F-Wagner and Carter are positive players. Up and down the roster, players need to be more efficient. And this starts with Fultz and Suggs hitting long balls as a higher clip.
