Mobley was just ahead of Scottie only due to defense. But once Allen got hurt, Mobley's dependence on Allen got exposed. It showed hiw much Allen was the anchor and Mobley had that crutch. Then add in that media was saying it was close, but the Cavs were winning more.

Mobley getting hurt, Scottie upping his game, and the Cavs collapse all aided Scottie.

I personally was a fan of the award show. Last time they hosted one, Siakam won the MIP and it was awesome seeing him get up on stage to accept his award.

It'll be fun seeing Scottie accept his. I bet he got a couple jokes up his sleeve.

How many voters?

there are 100 voters total
11 have reported so far
6 for barnes 3 for mobley 2 for cade

in all cases barnes is at lowest 2nd

5 points for 1st place, 3 for 2nd place, 1 for 3rd place.

if these were election results they would be close to calling it for barnes.

I really don't know. I'm assuming every publication has 3 or 4 people voting on the awards.

The crazy part is from the time we drafted him we'd never have Barnes as a Rookie of the Year candidate, just a guy who had a game like Draymond Green that seriously everyone had big questions if he'd been able to score on the NBA level.

His improvement from college to this year has been exponential.

see last year voters

100 voters this year as well, some changes from last year but lets say 80% + will be same
Vecenie did not have vote last year, no indications he has one this year either.

Yeah unfortunately, I don't think he has a vote so I can't add him to the list. :(
He does a have a large following though so hopefully he influences some voters to pick Barnes.

He had 13/1 odds I believe, so he at least had some type of shot. I had him in the 5-7 range in year 1 and a fringe 1st team all-rookie. After preseason I thought runner-up for ROY though.

Definitely surprising he has a good chance winning it though from the time he got drafted.
