Teams are going to want at least 1 pick which the lakers refused to give up so my guess is he plays out his contract in LA

I wouldn't put it past an organization like Klutch to weaponize Miles Bridges upcoming RFA as a bargaining chip to try and strong arm Kupchak into helping out the Lakers.
"Well sure you can have a draft pick with Westbrook..or we could conveniently miss a phone call from Detroit on the day you offer Bridges his extension...." already know from the Noel case that they aren't above stuff like that and LeBron is their priority 1 above all

Charlotte didn’t seem to get much out of Haywood and Rozier. I don’t blame them trying to unload those two. They would probably buy out Westbrook.

He'd possibly be bought out or waived. Regardless, people need to stop talking about Westbrook the player in the context of trade discussions. Any team that trades for him is doing it purely as a salary move.
Actually, hold up. I feel like a moron. At no point did waiving Westbrook ever cross my mind. Jesus christ. This whole time I was against the idea of the Hornets getting him in large part because of the negative aspects of what he brings to the team. But waiving him and allowing the Hornets young talent to grow on their own and develop chemistry? That's not a bad idea at all.
Kemba, I take back what I originally said to you. I'm an idiot.

Read the above. I accept any and all L's handed out to me.

Rozier has been great.

Why? dude is cooked and literally does nothing well on the court. Couple that with a terrible attitude I just don't see the appeal. I get the expiring contract aspect but it's not like Charlotte or Indiana are free agent destinations. And trading Brogdon+Hield for westbrick should be a fireable offense lol.

Lakers get to gamble on health and get Westbrook out, charlotte gets significant cap relief in a year at no cost, and who knows, maybe they can flip Westbrook for something.

Or MJ a notoriously bad evaluator of talent thinks Westbrook is still a star player. Isn't he sponsored by Jordan?

Future cap relief shouldn't be sufficient motivation for CHA/IND to give up useful players just so Russ can take the ball out of LaMelo/Haliburton's hands & stunt their development.
Earliest FRPs the Lakers can add to sweeten the deal are 2026/28. LAL doesn't even have a first to draft Bronny in 2024, lol.
Most hilarious deal would be Randle/Fournier to pair up Westbrook with Thibs, MPG would be off the charts. Maybe even Wilt territory.

MJ is barely involved with the team anymore, he brought in new investors and spends more time on his pro yacht fishing and new NASCAR squads.
Unless you think he's out there scouting guys and making draft picks, which if he is he's a hell of a lot better than your average realgmer that called him an idiot for not maxing Kemba Walker and drafting LaMelo Ball over Killian Hayes

That was with Joh wall. Little different here.
Being that John Wall hasn't played more than 41 games since 2016/17 season and the Rockets still asked for a 1st pick, what makes you think the Hornets wouldn't even more than that for players like Gordan Haywood/ Terry Rozier who's much more valuable than John Wall at this point. I'm 100% sure the Hornets would like to get off of Gordan Haywood contact. However I'm sure they can get much better trade packages than trading for a old Russell Westbrook will get 47 million dollars, who plays no defense and ruins team chemistry. I see no posssiblity the Lakers would be able to get meaningful assets for Russell Westbrook being that his trade value is nearly non existant.

Butler can’t shoot but can still get to the rim FOR NOW.
Let’s see how butlers 2024-25 and 2025/26 age 35 and 36 season look at 48/52 million.
So don’t laugh at Westbrook deals. It’s gonna to come back and hit other teams as well or players being mocked like Westbrook and Wall. But guess what? Westbrook and wall don’t care. Their contracts are guaranteed
All well and good but Westbrook's decline is on another level and is only 1 year older than Butler and 2 years older than Wall.
Butler is still a good FT shooter, facilitator and defender.
Exactly what is Westbrook good at these days in terms of winning stats?

Re: Michael Jordan reportedly has interest in acquiring Westbrook, Pacers joined the chat
they are getting off 3 years with Hayward while they have just one year of Westbrook for one. , plus if they do with plumlee 3 years .. or rozier who has 5 years … you do the math ….that’s 8 or 6 years of contracts for just one year of Westbrook . Are the hornets close to contending ? No . Would getting off long years help them ? After Westbrooks year .. yes.. Hayward is very injury prone as well . Westbrook is readily available.facothomas22 wrote:Ballerhogger wrote:jc23 wrote:Teams are going to want at least 1 pick which the lakers refused to give up so my guess is he plays out his contract in LA

Say they don’t do it , the lakers do John wall treatment . The hornets still have injury prone Hayward for 2 more years and plumee . Who is on center but is not in their future plans .
