How many years of Bird would you take over peak Durant?

84, 85 when healthy, 86 are the ones I am most confident in.

Definitely 1984 and 1986. Probably 1987 as well, with 1985 being close enough. Poor performance in 1988 playoffs hurt this season in comaprison to the best KD years.

I would pick peak Durant over any pre-84 version of Bird.

I would pick the best Bird years over the best KD years. Bird is the guy that will lead your team from start to finish, not KD.

84, 86 and 87 for sure. Maybe 85 and/or 88. I think his playoff performance in other years is a bit too suspect to have a legit case.

I'm probably a bit higher on peak Durant than most as I'd only take 84 and 86 Bird ahead of him.

Every year that Bird was healthy enough. KD wasn't a great playoff performer when all the attention of opposing defenses was on him. 2012 is the only exception.The problem that KD has against the current celtics team are the same that he had vs Memphis in 2013 and 2014 or even against Dallas in 2011

Without going too far into it statistically I'd tend to say 84-88 mostly due to intangibles, passing and rebounding. I mean if its a hypothetical where you are building around them in the coming season which also means Bird is shooting way more 3's and might get some degree of load management I'd take those years of Bird I think. If its more just looking at statistics and saying who was better in a given year its probably just 84/86 Bird.
