Why are the Lakers allowed to come out in the open and say they want Nick Nurse?
Is this not tampering? Nurse is still signed in to his contract. If it happens to a player, it'll be considered tampering no?

Clippers traded a pick for coach Doc… Lakers would have to do the same
Not sure if it’s allowed to be discussed, obviously it’s the rumor mill and that happens whenever a coach is fired they talk about who’s getting that job

Good. Nick Nurse must be thinking the same. haha
Let them rot in mediocrity after how they treated Lue and Vogel.

I read something today (will try to find the link) that said, basically, that Nurse is represented by Klutch and that the Lakers mentioning Nurse's name may have been a courtesy to Klutch. That is, the Lakers don't think they're going to get Nurse, but they wanted to help out Klutch and make it seem like they are very interested in Nurse to help push up his value.
I'll go look for the link now.

I don't think any coach with sense and winning pedigree looks at this Lakers team as a desirable position.
1. None of the credit, all of the blame
2. Lack of assets/players
3. Roster construction is abysmal
4. NBA retirement home
5. How much pull does LeBron actually have?

Here's the link mentioned above:

Given all of those obstacles, I’d be shocked if Nurse emerged as a realistic candidate for the Lakers’ job, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. As one Eastern Conference executive observed to Sean Deveney of Heavy.com, Nurse is represented by Andy Miller at Klutch Sports, the same agency that reps LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
“I would expect the Lakers to at least ask about Nick Nurse,” the executive told Deveney. “… He got the big contract with the Raptors and he is secure there. They’re not going to let him go. But it makes him look better and Klutch look better if they are asking for him, right? So yeah, I would not be surprised to see the Lakers ask about him but more as a favor to Klutch. Maybe they won’t because he is so far out of reach. But, you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours, that is how things work.”

Shams is Klutch, too.HotRocks34 wrote:I read something today (will try to find the link) that said, basically, that Nurse is represented by Klutch and that the Lakers mentioning Nurse's name may have been a courtesy to Klutch. They have literally nothing to attract a high profile coach that is already employed.

agree with others , coaching Lebron isn’t glorious as of right now .
If the lakers suck then it’s all your fault, but if they win it’s because you have Lebron and AD…

Re: Why are the Lakers allowed to come out in the open and say they want Nick Nurse?
I truly wonder what will happen with the Laker coaching situation this off season.
Can't see any established head coach want to jump into that clown show of an organization especially since they are no where near championship level. Head coaches need to not take the job after The way the organization treated Vogel. Yes he got paid and got a ring, but have some decency.
My guess it would be a former player who hasn't coached or or not a head coach at least.
