You said Giannis, **** they got Middleton and Holiday as well to create gravity.

The comparison is dumb.

In fairness, the guy’s name is literally Hater Muse. At least he’s transparent with his negative clickbait.

I realize we’re still typing on a turn-of-the-century message board, but it’s a weird post-post post-modern world out there. The OP knows perfectly well his stats are garbage, and I think he knows that we know that he knows. And yet we still can’t help clicking on it and posting dumbass uninformed line-in-the-sand replies.

3toheadmelo has been dividing the world into GIF factions for as long as I’ve been posting here — 20 years now. Humanity will always enjoy a good Hater Muse, no matter how nonsensical his per-48 comparisons.

WHY THE PAST 10 YEARS OF AMERICAN LIFE HAVE BEEN UNIQUELY STUPID
It’s not just a phase.

Good read, thank you.

Spoiler:
Posting here for 20 years definitely gave me insight into concepts like the “exhausted majority” and the ubiquity of trivial factions.

I didn’t need a scholar to point out that rich white people are the core members of both the radical right and radical left. Nor did I need an expert to tell me that Q-Anon is the mirror image of Cancel Culture. But I sure enjoyed hearing it anyway.

Not sure what the author was up to with the whole “children need free play” thing at the end. I mean yeah sure of course they do. But I was hoping the article would have gone full circle by ending with something more about the biological imperative of a system to split as it gets bigger and more complex.

In other words, I enjoyed the observations but didn’t see the need for the suggested solutions. Personally, I’m more worried about melting polar ice than I am about the polarized stupidity of team RJ vs team Randle. Because only one of those things is, you know, real and out to actually kill us.

I think the writer had good points but ran out of a way to tie it all up.

I’ve been shouting for 20 years on this forum that Dolan is the only problem that matters for the Knicks. At first everybody defended him and blamed Isiah or the escape-goat-du-jour. Stupidity factions emerged and arguments ensued. But eventually it seems the world caught on and we all accept the futility of it.

Same concept seems to be happening with global warming. There’s an absolutely unambiguous death ray that’s been irreversibly unleashed on human civilization and yet it’s back-page news as both so-called “sides” argue over the topic of the day. Today it’s Ukraine. Yesterday it was Covid. Before that the Insurrection, George Floyd, so on and so forth. All important issues, but ummmmm guys? The end of our physical ability to inhabit Earth is upon us. The latest UN climate report dropped the same day as Putin’s invasion. I didn’t see millions of people change their Facebook profile picture to include an Earth flag. Corporations didn’t divest themselves en masse of CO2 generating activities.

Anyway, I digress. Back to important issues like will Leon trade Obi?

I'm getting to the point where I don't want to give up anything more than Randle and filler/picks for Zion.

There's a 100% chance he will miss at least 30 games per season. And the career ending injury is looming like the grim reaper.

Every Knicks fan's greatest worry — we finally get the last piece of the puzzle, but it breaks — a career ending injury and we are doomed to suckitude forever more.

I mean, the same was said about Joel and here he is, a contender for the MVP. that isn't to say there isn't anything to worry about, but its a chance the knicks should be willing to take considering how mediocre the knicks have been it almost every imaginable way of constructing as team.

They didn't have to give up anything to get Embiid.

Drafting an injury prone potential MVP is playing with house money.

We'd have to give up 100 1st round draft picks and our youth for Zion

The audio reading of the Atlantic article Buzz sent is an hour long. An hour entirely about the problem of society falling apart from the stupidity of social media, and yet not a single mention of the fact that climate change will make it impossible for humans to have civilization on Earth within the foreseeable future. It’s all Trump, Q-Anon, Zuckerberg, Cancel Culture, and the ironically panic-inducing claim that the collapse of western civilization is upon us. No mention whatsoever of the single uniting problem every human on Earth should be focused on.

It really does remind me of how this board knows perfectly well that Dolan is the only problem that matters and yet we spend hundreds of thousands of pages arguing over the latest iteration of Team RJ vs Team Julius or Team Rebuild vs Starphuck.

But yeah, anywhoooo. How ‘bout that Zion?

For real, bro. Randle's a total psycho.

Spoiler:
I've gone through more stages of grief over climate change than the Knicks and sadly I've come to the same point of acceptance that no matter what I say or do we're just not going to make it and there's just not much I can do about it. It's a terrible place to be but I don't see a way around it. The 'Os own two EVs. It's not all we do and it really isn't much of anything all things considered but the point is that any time I've tried to convince friends of mine to make the plunge there's always some boogeyman event they can think of that stops them from seriously considering getting one. These are people who believe in climate change, that it's a threat to humanity, that EVs are an incremental step to slow it, and have the money and are unwilling to take on a minor inconvenience (if it even is one) of their own. This is an allegory moreso than some sort of truism about EVs saving the world. There's a lot of big thinking but very little resolve by individuals and collectives alike to take even small steps as this meteor hurls closer and closer.

So that's my depressing rant of the day. Plant a tree or some ****. Xoxo.

i listened to it before i went to sleep - i try to listen to most interesting off-topic stuff you guys chat about ... for my own personal growth. i know better than anyone how frequently chat of off-topic matters typically falls upon deaf ears - but for what it's worth, you have mine

there is a movie on netflix w/ leo dicaprio and jennifer lawrence about this very issue - it's called "Don't Look Up". only global warming takes the form of a meteor falling to the earth and the experts urgently trying to send warnings while the government/general media more or less scoffs at them/writes them off as sensationalists. it's pretty funny!

selfishly enough - the only thing that really gives me comfort through this is the fact that i will long be dead before global warming, microplastics, x10 sunflares, nuclear fallout or whatever horrible but inevitable end humanity will meet

my favorite things to watch growing up were nature documentaries - starting w/ planet earth and basically every series after it. now i can't bear to watch anything related to nature because i know the holocene is over, the world is dying and we are long past the tipping point. but alas it is what it is and i vowed to never reproduce due to fear of my children having to face a future that resembles something more from a dystopian, post-apoc warzone than a world befit for human life.

but onto more important news - the trolls on this board are just out of control and we need to trade julius randles very soon maybe even now ...

When the Knicks become legit good it will be time to start worrying since the end will be near. Expecting the meteor to hit seconds before the buzzer sounds of the Knicks next championship

Xoxo.

selfishly enough - the only thing that really gives me comfort through this is the fact that i will long be dead before global warming, microplastics, x10 sunflares, nuclear fallout or whatever horrible but inevitable end humanity will meet

my favorite things to watch growing up were nature documentaries - starting w/ planet earth and basically every series after it. now i can't bear to watch anything related to nature because i know the holocene is over, the world is dying and we are long past the tipping point. but alas it is what it is and i vowed to never reproduce due to fear of my children having to face a future that resembles something more from a dystopian, post-apoc warzone than a world befit for human life

but onto more important news - the trolls on this board are just out of control and we need to trade julius randles very soon maybe even now ...

The lack of panic, for me, says there is some sort of moral hazard going on, perhaps in the context of "I'll be dead and gone anyway", but I also think there's also the flavor of "someone smart will figure it out and save us". Even the science non-believers, in their heart of hearts, are counting on science to figure it out and reverse climate change somehow - perhaps the giant vacuum statue of liberty type robot from Space Balls. Except, no science points to an actual reversal of climate change. All we really have left is an attempt at slowing down the process and mitigating the effects. Heck, the world couldn't get everyone to take a free vaccine to help them save their own lives. What chance did we have to get people to fear an invisible gas. I know it's not the "right" thing to do by feeling fatalist, but man, is it ever tough not to.

I’m glad I started following football early so I can be excited to watch the champions league today instead of being all doomer 2 days after the season is over. yes we are all going to die yes humanity will go extinct soon no there’s not an afterlife but if there is I hope to see you all in hell along with Dolan and anybody that’s ever played for this team and it would be a most enjoyable experience

When the Knicks become legit good it will be time to start worrying since the end will be near. Expecting the meteor to hit seconds before the buzzer sounds of the Knicks next championship

Lol that would be so Knicks but no

More realistic we are all watching the lottery as usual with the most generational and hyped talent since Lebron going to be the consensus number 1 and we see we jumped from 11th and they’re announcing the top 4 and we don’t go 4,3,2 *and that means the first pick goes to* and as he starts to open the envelope the meteor hits so fast it’s like we are watching the ending to the sopranos

Your right. That is more realistic. We wouldn’t be allowed to have the joy of a run to the finals again.

I’m pretty sure we’re already there and greensatan is really the mastermind of this whole illusion
