Athletic has the info that the injury is in the more "meaty" midsection. Heals faster and is more far away from the achilles...so yeah my guess is still the 7-10 days...

If he can make it back for Game 3 Dallas will be fine. They just have to split at home without him.

Yeah, weird. Pretty evenly matched. It just depends on psychology and the Luka injury. If Utah doesn't mentally implode it will be a great series. They have a good amount of talent.

I don't know. Kind of doesn't look good. If it is not "too bad" teams will usually kind of indicate that right away from my experience.

That's up a couple points since the MRI news. I think it will increase another couple points, tbh. Luka's calf strain appears to be real and not entirely minor. He needs to rest it for a week at least.

Dallas hasn't won a series since they celebrated in Miami so not sure any edge to Dallas in this regard....

But the last time these two franchises played we got a great series with the upstarts beating the team nearing the end of its run. So let's hope that repeats itself. :wink:

The Jazz aren't stupid. They've been dealing with calf strains all year. They know this is a bare minimum of 10+ days recovery, and the Mavs would be pushing their luck putting Luka out there in Game 3 or even Game 4. Only a very minor strain would be something Luka could come back from by Saturday or Monday, and this doesn't appear to be very minor. Until Luka is cleared for contact, he practices at full speed, and he tests well afterwards with no pain, there's no way he's going to be cleared to play. It doesn't even matter what the status of the series is.

If the Mavs want to play mind games with the Jazz, they can just say Luka's status is 'questionable' or 'day-to-day.' They don't have to say, "No timetable." If anything, it sounds as though they're trying to manage the fans' and the media's expectations.

That said, I don't think the Jazz care. They signed up to play the Mavs with Luka. They need to focus on themselves and their late-game execution, so they stop blowing 20-point leads.

Marc Stein was on the Ticket in Dallas and his guess is that Luka misses at least Game 1 and maybe Game 2 but probably the first two

Series schedule has been released. It looks like this series has been banished to NBA-TV for Games 2 & 3. Sixers/Raptors, Warriors/Nuggets and Grizzlies/T'wolves take the TNT slots on Monday and Thursday. Read into that what you will. It's likely that the networks aren't banking on Luka being available early in the series.
