Should Lebron finish his career in Cleveland

Post#1 » by GrindCityHustle » Wed Apr 13, 2022 4:35 am

As good as Lebron is 38 is a rough number to be in the NBA. It got me thinking..

Cleveland has Sexton,Love and Okoro who Lakers would take for Lebron as they are zapped out on picks and AD is still good
enough longterm where the Lakers could rebuild quick. Westbrook is in final season of a massive contract and they could bring in another star to LA.

Lebron brought a title to LA and made media connections. He prob lives there after retirement because of the Cali weather. I just
think sticking with the Lakers any longer won't end well. Going back to Cleveland and not even winning a title there wouldn't hurt his legacy IMHO since he already did it and is the biggest star in Cavs history. No need to go to Golden State and chase for a ring. It doesn't end well for most players who try to do it as history has shown.

Also the best chance for Lebron to play with his son is prob Cleveland. He can mentor him without a super huge media spotlight.

Question is. Would Cavs fans welcome him back for a farewell tour like Jordan Wiz.

I imagine they'd be afraid of him just leaving again.

Honestly yeah, why not? Cleveland has the PG spot and PF/C spot locked down, they just need a great wing player and LeBron fills that void. It would give him a good chance to actually win a championship. The Lakers roster is atrociously built and AD can't stay healthy to save his life.

But would they want him back? Wherever Lebron goes the media circus goes. Still worth it imo.

Going to Cleveland might legit prolong his career by another 5 years, he’s gonna try a Tom Brady until his feet fall off. And I’d still watch the games lol

Just so he can get Mobley, Allen, Garland, and Okoro traded away for Giannis, Porzingas and Chris Paul when he's 40? Nah, I'm good.

He probably will, even if just on a 1 day deal.

If he's going to actually play, probably be more like an Iverson back to the 76ers, KG back to the Wolves, Pippen back to the Bulls etc. It'll be when it is a foregone conclusion that his career is over.

Obviously fans will welcome him back in any capacity, it's not really a question. It's like that couple that has been married and divorced several times lol

Why do people always and only talk about lebron like this. I'm sick of him running from situation to situation just to try to have the best teammates. People aren't going to keep respecting that. Just stay in LA and go to whoever picks your son, even if they aren't a great team

If he agreed to stay out of trying to be LeGM, I'd do it.

Easiest & quickest way to catapult CLE into championship contention within a couple years or so.

What pieces in the teens (this year) or twenties (likely going forward) of the draft are you thinking are going catapult this team into the same realm?!

So instead of picking closer to 19-23, they're picking more like 26+ lol It's not like Garland & Mobley are 27+ y/os in their primes and LeBron is just stealing their thunder. If anything he's just accelerating the process and at bare minimum these kids would get some deep Playoff runs under their belts and STILL not be close to their primes. Best case you get another ring in CLE, worst case they got a ton of experience, LeBron is done, guys are only entering their primes as far more accomplished and experienced players who also would've learned a ton from LBJ and just the higher level battles they would've been a part of.

All that said, I don't think LeBron is leaving California...Lakers possibly and not for the Clippers, think more tech opportunities & a player he said he'd love to play with out in Golden State and I'm not talking about his boy Draymond. I could actually see that happen in a year.

I think he'll finish his career chucking for the all time scoring lead passing up KAJ, on the Lakers, putting all of the rest of his energy getting Bronny to the Lakers. He's not leaving LA now, he loves Hollywood, and he has his titles, so he'll just go for scoring accolades now in hope his body holds up for Bronny-time.

He has the Lakers balls in a vice.

Nah he should stay in LA and stop ring chasing when 1 bad year occurs. Already broke his promise before to Cleveland

I don't think he wants to live in Cleveland again. I can see a California team like the Warriors because the flight home is likely shorter than the drive from Staples.

He could bookend his career or stay with the Lakers. Or ring chase with the Heat or elsewhere. It’s up to him. He is a mercenary for every team except the Cavs

Of course, as long as he accepts that the team will not trade away their young stars for a once-off shot at a title. The Cavs have a great rising team and he should be nothing more than one part of the entire entity. Would he accept that? (Shrug shoulders)

Not sure where he would be happy to end his career.

Is he still trying to win a championship or is he at peace just being able to play and not chase anything like KG, Wade, Dirk, Shaq AI their last seasons. If Lebron is happy just being there and helping however he can than it doesn't matter where he finishes. But I have a feeling he wants to have a Dwayne Wade type farewell tour. (I thought Wade's farewell tour was a bit much)

This is a very easy answer-bball wise. He joins Clev in 2023 (they will have cap space, even with Garland's max extension) and this is their lineup (assuming they let Sexton walk)
Garland
Okoro
LBJ
Mobley
Allen
Lauri-6th man

That team EASILY wins a title-assuming health. The young core has 2022-23 to develop, and adds an All Star (let's assume LBJ is still an All Star in 2023-he just put up 30/game this year). His obvious weakness now is D, and he has Allen/Mobley behind him now. Add a few bench pieces and that team destroys for a year or two-and STILL has their young core once LBJ is gone

For him, it depends on family/personal life. But for the Cavs-IF they make it clear that he is a player and not running the team-that lineup is deadly

Well, considering his m.o. has been to leave Cleveland devoid of assets and then return once they restocked... yes?
