Miles Bridges is expected to command a 5-year max contract [Fischer]

Post#1 » by SUPERVILLAIN » Wed Apr 13, 2022 3:26 pm

Miles Bridges (24 years old)
2021/22 stats: 20.2 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 3.8 APG, 59.3 TS%

Bridges is clearly the present and future wing Charlotte wants to develop alongside Ball. After Bridges' camp declined a four-year, $60 million contract offer last fall, sources confirmed, he is expected to command a maximum salary that could total five years, $173 million this summer. League personnel believe the Hornets will match any offer sheet for Bridges. That could either dissuade teams from making an earnest attempt at signing him, unnecessarily tying their hands for 48 hours. Or it may encourage a rival suitor to force Charlotte to pay his full max, as the Brooklyn Nets once did with Washington and Otto Porter.

Nope.

He should max out at 20-22 million/year

I mean, you can't lose him for nothing. A super durable 24 year old 20/7/4 60% TS all star caliber player is better than anything else we would sign with that money
this is also why getting out of Rozier and Haywards deals via WB may be necessary

It's crazy he closed the season close to 60%TS! :O Totally shocked, because I was following him early, he started out the season super hot, but then cooled off big time. I suppose he really had to have a great 2022 calendar year, if he almost got back to 60%TS. That's a piece!

if he does, i would hate it for Charlotte. but thats the going rate for 3rd or 2nd stars on a team - which is a sham.

I think he's more deserving of something along the lines of what Mikal or Jaylen got buuuut in a small market he'll likely be able to push them above that, just how it goes.

Shouldn't have offered him just 4/60M. Thats like 4M more than the MLE per year.

If they offered him something like Mikal, he most likely would've take it.

Hes better than harris for sure

But i dont **** my cap with him

Just simple equal the RFA offer he signs, probably a max too but not supermax.

They have to match the 4 years max, maybe with a player option trolling inside.

OKC magic indiana pistons will do it.

$120-140M seems about right for him in the current market.

I was actually surprised they offered him the extension they did, good on him and his agent for betting on themselves.

Considering his agent is Klutch, I would expect him to get this regardless of worth or if he wants it/Hornets want to give it.

Klutch, with their "we own the league" mindset, will convince another team to offer the max just to make the Hornets match the Max.

Its a done deal,, book it. If he had another agent, he may have signed a lucrative deal in the offseason.

But now we will owe the max.

Which the Lakers should leverage by not adding in picks....they'll just take all your long money contracts off your hands.

Good player but he should be nowhere near the max. If he was then Charlottle should be near championship contenders with him and Ball, which we all know they aren't.

Unfortunately when you don't have a franchise in Miami NY or LA you have to extend yourself on deals like this and hope for the best.

this could be one of those cases where it's either looking like the right move 3 years from now or a colossal mistake

does Miles Bridges deserve to make more money than even John Collins?

5 years from now LaMelo will still be a couple years away from his prime.

I meant do you think Ball and Bridges as your 2 best players will be a championship core?

Bridges is a 3rd/4th best player type imo but he's still young and can improve. Just don't lock yourself into a Tobais type deal when you don't have to.

Charlotte must keep their proven young talent stay relevant. I will be interested to see how this ends up.
