I forgot to open a poll when I started the thread. How many games do we all expect this series to go.
A: Wolves in 4
B: Wolves in 5
C: Wolves in 6
D: Wolves in 7

That covers all the possibilities. I go with C.

Going forward in playoffs, the big question mark for Wolves is the KAT-Vando lineup. How are they going to deal with opponents doubling KAT and leaving Vando open? They have to find a way to nullify this.

Dane mentioned this before the Clippers match on the differences between how KAT and Jokic deal with doubles and it still holds true..KAT needs to pass it out quickly when he is doubled.

The Official Wolves vs Grizzlies Series Thread

This’ll be a fun one. Pretty even in terms of youth and experience, they have the pressure with the 2 seed. Steal one of the first two and their butts really might begin to pucker.

As always, need 2 of towns/dlo or ant to be on to have a chance…or out of body game from beas. If not, it’ll be tough sledding for that game.

If all 3 are on their game, we’re next to unbeatable.

Bevs gonna have to put on his best act to get inside Jas head early and often. He knows this and Ja knows this. In the last game, I remember a lot of vando on Ja. Ja was 7-25. That seemed to work. I was just looking at grizz stats. JJJ and Dillon are 30% 3PT shooters? JJJ barely shoots 40% total. I thought Dillon would be more accurate.

I don’t think Memphis has the arsenal of hybrid 4s that LA had to throw and frustrate towns with. Towns owns adams. So they’re gonna have to get creative. Towns had much better games Vs the grizz than LA. Dlo also played great against Memphis in all 4 games

Twolves played better @memphis than Memphis played at Minnesota

Yes…Get the defense to chase … especially double teams. Inside out, hi-low, rotation, and dribble space are all simple ball movements that help bait/draw the double teams. Then you can use Vandy to pick and drop or simply pick-the-picker to give KAT targets for shooters. All of these are quick actions and timed to force defense to commit to the double team, and up to Finch to help KaT understand the play action.

We split the season series. Towns did much better against Memphis than he did against LA.

What was the cumulative points for the 4 games? Didn't we beat them by 10 or more points total?

This here is the key

The Rainmaker wrote:These 2 split the season series this season with both teams winning at home.

The big story is Ja. Now Ja is very efficient shooting 49.3% from field but against the Timberwilves this season Ja shot 33.8% from the field. The worst shooting percentage against any team this season. Ja still average 20-6-5 against the Timberwolves this season.

People just assume (like the Inside guys last night) that it's the Beverley effect, but it's also having length like McDaniels and Vanderbilt and even Edwards to throw at him depending on lineups.

Crazy stat: Minnesota is 21-29 all-time on the road against the Grizzlies. This includes a 20-4 record when playing in Vancouver.

EDIT: Math fail. Will fix when have more time away from work. Still, it's not good.

We've played them well recently after being owned by them for what seemed like years. We match up well with them in my opinion, but they are a very, very good team. They won two play in games to get in last year before losing to Jazz in 5 so the inexperience angle is a bit overblown by some. I think we can make it competitive and I think it's very possible for us to pull off an upset, but if I had to pick, I'd say Griz in 6.

I went with Wolves in 6. That number just feels right. We are the better team.

Win one of the first two away games and I’m getting excited. MEM is a very good team and fun to watch.

Towns+MCD and JJJ+Brooks are two NBA duets who commit most fouls in the league.
Both Towns and McDaniels should play smarter and keep calm, otherwise we have no chance against physical MEM team.

Where’s “Wolves in 3?” I foresee the Wolves winning by such huge margins in the first three games, that despite the NBA’s legal protests, the Grizzlies refuse to play game 4, forfeit, and just fly home.

(Seriously though, I think this whole series is going to be a blast. I wasn’t that excited about us playing HOU with Jimmy, and many of the Garnett series, I was just hoping we wouldn’t lose. This time though, I think both young, swagger, something-to-prove teams are going to come out throwing haymakers at each other. I can’t wait!)

Why does your poll have this impossible outcome of Memphis winning?
