I'm so glad I no longer have to feel bad about my mental struggles because of what the "world" thinks. People really don't care and it's sad. Even if Simmons is pretending none of you KNOW that!

You claimed he'd play as soon as he got what he wanted, out of Philly, you said it would prove he was faking. Now that that "proof" didn't show up for you, you still take it as a joke and him just being a brat. Why?

People are different, what doesn't bother you could be the same thing that causes others to commit suicide. What you brush off and fight through could cause someone to self-harm. What you overcome can be the same thing that makes someone not be able to move from their beds, not wash, not eat or do normal everyday self-care activities!

Ask yourself, what in you makes you want to denigrate someone you don't know or have any real information about. He hasn't done anything to any of you!

If you think he doesn't deserve the money he's getting, whatever, people are far richer who have actually done NOTHING for it (off the backs of others). Just say that, why get personal when you aren't someone who knows him personally? I would understand if what he does actually affects you, like if he was able to make laws, policies, harm you physically or hold you back in any way, but it doesn't! Nothing he is doing is harming you in any way. It's not even "harming" you as a fan! We fans are "crazy," but why on this issue?

For us outside folk, IT AIN'T THAT SERIOUS!!

You can say what you want, I definitely am, within the rules (maybe, I haven't read them), I'm just asking what's the point of it? You may not care that your words are hurting some of the other readers on here, even if they don't speak up, but it's not a good look. Do you, it's just disappointing to see.

LOL.
Defensive and offensive scheme aside, I absolutely love the attitude shift on this team and I'm more than certain it came from him. There's a quiet forosity to his coaching and I think the players feed off of it.

I wasn't sure if I liked the way he was talking during the beginning of the season but I love it now. A great change from stevens. No offense to how he did things. I just like Udoka's attitude more.

Speculation about Timelord's return. Nothing new. Points out that the 4 week mark will be hit right around the time of (if necessary) Game 5.

Durant is probably still the best player in the NBA. That said, the team that crushed us got 41 ppg from Harden and Harris and also had Jeff Green’s length to bother Tatum. Who is going to bring that this year?

The Nets are dangerous and probably as tough a first round match as there will be except for perhaps the Raptors who are probably the second hottest team in East heading into playoffs. Their record since 2022 is as good as Nets record with Durant.

For the Celtics, unlike most emerging young teams, this isn't about a deep run. Jaylen Brown has been to ECF 3 out of 4 years he’s been to playoffs. This guy isn’t a KAT who disappears in the biggest games. Ditto Marcus, Tatum and Big Al. Our championship window cracked open in January. It is now officially finals or bust. We are the team to beat in the East and we are the team playing the best even without Rob. It doesn’t matter which round we lose in if we don’t go all the way to finals. The Nets and Durant have to be dealt with and the Celtics are the best equipped team to do it. Now is as good a time as ever. I think the coach and players wanted this matchup.
They also had Allen in the post whose much better than Drummond.

I thought they traded Allen and LaVert as part of 4 team Harden deal.

What ifs get complicated. They traded Allen to get Harden, and hence would likely have him now if they haven't made the trade. But he's currently hurt. Instead, they moved Harden for Simmons, who is currently hurt. They also traded LaVert, who currently sucks, and got Curry, who doesn't.

Dinwiddie's departure, I'm guessing without checking, was necessary to have cap room for Durant/Irving/DAJ.

Seeing Drummond and that backup sky for alley oops with ease just makes me sick knowing we won't have TimeLord for this matchup and how Theis and Horford have been struggling to get off the ground for Smart's oops over the past couple of weeks.

That's going to be a weapon against our defense Irving and Durant can exploit all game long. And Drummond is a legendary rebounder, again Timelord could match up with that but he's going to abuse us on the boards.

I really think we need to be up 10 going into the final 2 minutes to win the game against these guys without TimeLord. Durant is just on another level than anyone else out there on the court in this series and really outside of Greek Freak and... well really just him he's on another level than any other NBA player at the moment.

I hate this, I hope we win, I'd feel a lot better about this if we had Timelord.

This is a helpful perspective, thanks. I will try to be sensitive to it when discussing Simmons's situation in the future. Sorry for my thoughtlessness.

Celtics in 5 or 6
Good assessment:

Reminder: Half of last year's rotation against the Nets is gone, and it's guys who are now regarded as salary-dump-level players: Fournier, Kemba, TT, Romeo. (Rob did play a few minutes of the first game before getting injured). Replacements include:

Jaylen (injured last year)
Horford
White
Theis

The returnees are mainly

Tatum (big strides this year)
Grant (ditto)
Pritchard (ditto, notably at the defensive end)
Smart (maybe ditto, maybe not -- that's hotly debated)

Jabari Parker also played 15mpg. He shot the ball well but was a liability on defense.

Bingo... But this will never happen. Homers of all teams can't stand anything other than "rah rah we will dominate all comers" speak. Even on here, almost nobody is picking the nets to win... But I've read comments about how everyone is so negative on here just because some are giving another team other than the celtics credit and acknowledgement and dare say the other team has a chance to win. I've learned to deal with it. This is just how homers are.

I am happy most of the media are picking the Nets because maybe it will keep their delusions of being able to turn it on whenever alive. I would be more afraid of the Nets if most of the media pick the Cs. KD is already motivated enough but an extra motivated KD is not someone I want to see.

Whatever Barley says normally the opposite comes true.
Last year he called the Bucks winning the championship

Ehh.. Giannis was being crowned long before he ever won anything. When every season is "Bucks will definitely win this time" then eventually they're going to be right.

Wish we had more sample size and against good teams too, but the new starting five with Theis did really well in team's final games -- +44 in 59 minutes over 4 games.

+2 vs Indy, +15 vs Wash, +22 vs Chi, +5 vs Mem

These five know each other well since they've spent at least 3 seasons together. Again, the one thing I worry about is rebounding esp since we switch a lot. We win the rebounding battle and don't turn the ball over much, Cs are gonna win this matchup. It goes without saying that we CAN'T revert back to old habits when it comes to our offense for us to have a chance at keeping up with the Nets scoring.

On the topic of Simmons I've been feeling the same way. I have zero insight into his situation and that's a good enough reason not to pile on the hate he's been drawing. Mental health issues get my benefit of the doubt as I have lots of personal reasons to be sympathetic. It reminds me of how whenever there is player in the league who doesn't fit the typical physical profile of a rail thin rangy NBA player everything becomes "Fat this, fat that." It's junior high bull and some people never grow out of it. It's also why I'm contemplating becoming a super villain and destroying the human race but as that seems like a bit of work I'll probably just stick to some layman misanthropy.
