Timberwolves excessive celebration

Post#1 » by Ryoga Hibiki » Wed Apr 13, 2022 6:10 pm

I read about people clowning the Minnesota players for the way they celebrated the win against the Clippers...
seriously, what's some people's problem?
they basically won a close Game 7 to advance, why shouldn't they show their emotions?

Agreed. They won the NBA Finals, they deserve to celebrate how they would like!

Act like you've been there before. Still lots of games to play.

I was fine with everything except Patrick Beverly because a clown should be clowned. Happy they won. Not even mad at Beverly but the guy is pure comedy.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Give them a break. It's not like Minnesota knows much about winning in the post-season.

Same thing happened at my house when my kid won the local Legion-sponsored poetry contest. Wild.

They haven’t been there before. That’s the whole point. This team has made the playoffs once in the last 17 years and after finishing their best season in years still had to play a one game playoff to make it in.

Who cares if the young guys celebrate their win in front of their fans?

If you can enjoy the moment, why not. As long as it's nothing excessive/taunting, let them have a good time.

Spoiler:
I'm really excited that I can have all of my best friends to come over for a Thanksgiving dinner, no one would say, "Why are you so excited? This is not going to our last dinner." But you know, sometimes it could be and all you could do is cherish this moment.

I think most intense, meaningful games get a big celebration. It didn't seem that weird to me.

I’m fine with them celebrating and I’m fine with people making fun of them. Both situations put a smile on my face.

I have zero issues with them celebrating like that. They haven't been there before and that was a freaking big deal for that franchise.

Plus in general if you want to celebrate your victories no matter how small others may perceive them, go for it.

And I can relate. I'm a good winner. I will shake your hand and congratulate you and handle it fine. But if I beat you, yeah I might chirp a little bit. Best in the World kinda stuff. Nothing serious and all in good fun, but its okay to celebrate stuff.

People just trying to undermine the achievement. It's a big deal to make the playoffs, especially in a game 6/7 type match.

That's for teams that are going to be championship contenders. For these guys, that was the extent of that.

This is currently on Beverley's Wikipedia page (bold is mine):

"Patrick Beverley (born July 12, 1988) is an American professional basketball player for the Minnesota Timberwolves of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Arkansas Razorbacks before spending 3 and a half seasons overseas in Ukraine, Greece, and Russia. In January 2013, he joined the Houston Rockets. In June 2017, he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. After the Clippers traded him to Memphis, who traded him to the Winnesota Timberwolves, Beverley became the owner of the Clippers on April 12th, 2022."

I wonder if he made the changes himself?

I don't see anything wrong with their celebrations.

They were happy, and showed their emotions. Nothing wrong with that.

Today I learned you aren’t allowed to celebrate as a team unless you are a title contender

It's a franchise and fanbase that's known only decades of frustration, embarrassment, and heartbreak, let them celebrate.
